Q: Hello 5i,
Can you tell me your preference between SQ and NVEI please?
Are they different enough to hold both and which is your preference?
Thanks
Dave
Q: hello 5i:
We hold the Pimco Monthly Income Fund as our sole Global Fixed Income contributor. We are not displeased with it, but wonder if you favour another ETF, or mutual fund, that could replace it, or complement it. We would probably expect at least a 4.5% distribution. Ideas?
thanks

Q: Can you supply a few suggestions of dividend stocks that may be good to purchase during tax loss selling? Canadian and US if possible.
A few growth stocks would be a good balance to this question as well! Thanks, James
Q: Have a bit of cash I want to add deploy to one of MAL, PLC, X. Preference right now? Longterm hold, unregistered account, hybrid of income/balanced follower. Yes they are very different and yes this is a market timing question!
Q: I have a bit of USD cash to deploy. VIG or SPY. longterm hold, RSP account, balanced/income hybrid follower. Bat for the average with SPY or slightly lower beta with VIG.
Q: Hello 5i
Could you provide an indication as to buyhold/sell - all are current holdings but some due to declines have reduced to < 1% . I'm looking to rebalance overall and these need addressing with possibly topping up, selling or doing nothing ... ignore sector weights please. Already held for some time and any that I decide will remain will be held for the long term
Thanks
Q: I read a couple of recent posts on how bad TD brokerage was and how good National Bank was. Greg ended his post with “TD sucks”. That gave me a great chuckle. I am a TD client and am quite satisfied with their service but this is not to defend TD.
I have started a thread in the Forum under Brokerages and Research Tools on National Bank on the pros and cons of using that brokerage. I am intrigued by their zero commissions but am a bit skeptical on their overall offerings and service levels. I hope Greg and some others will post on their experiences with National.
Anyway, I do have a question for 5i. If I moved one of my accounts to National, with zero commissions, how do they make money from me? I don’t trade on margin, so no margin interest there. I don’t sell stocks short. I don’t buy or sell options. So, why would they want my business, or maybe they won’t?
Q: Hi 5i, it looks like Brookfield has set thier spin-off date, does that mean one has to buy BAM.A shares before and/or the record date of December 2nd to receive the BAM shares.
Thx.
Q: Hi Peter,
I do not have any basic materials in my portfolio and have very little knowledge in this category. Do you recommend looking into having a few EFTs to cover this or dive directly into some stocks?
With whichever suggestion you have, would you please provide me a list of your perferred EFTs or companies to invest and rank them from your very best to best in terms of security (less voltility) and returns.
Q: Rob Tattersall wrote a recent article in the G&M in which he stated that Titan Logix's MC is essentially equivalent to its cash on hand plus the value of its holdings of Bri-Chem. So in essence, if you purchase the shares, you are getting their technology for free.
Q: I'm looking for some of your expert advice. I am down in OTEX which I own in a taxable account. It is currently yielding a decent dividend. I am thinking of selling it after the X dividend date for the capital loss, and perhaps buying GIB.A. The latter does not pay a dividend but the stock is performing better. Do you sanction both parts of this trade? Do you think the OTEX dividend will be safe in the future?
Thanks, as always, for your advice.
Ian
