Some confusion regarding when I could sell my Bam.a and still get the spin-off. Some sources are saying different things. Can you clarify things for me.

Cheers!

Q: Trane is a stock that had been mentioned here quite often but it has been a while since I have seen any questions about it. In recent months it has had something of a recovery after a surprisingly large drop.

Do you think its upwards momentum will be coming to an end? That is, what do you see as its prospects going forward from here?

When did it last report and what is your view of the numbers from that time? When does it next report and are there any expectations?

Thank you for your excellent service.

Q: The purpose of the following question is to avoid problems with CRA and avoid pitfalls, traps &c.
(1) If tax payer withdraws all their Canadian $ from a TFSA before December 31, 2022 , I understand they can re-deposit the full amount after January 1 2023. Correct? (2) I understand they can re-deposit the *full allowable* amount in US$ (i.e. the US$ equivalent of all the Canadian $ that were just withdrawn). Is that correct? (3) If yes, is it the spot exchange rate that is used for calculating the amount available to put back into the TFSA? If yes, what exactly is the spot rate, what rate is acceptable under tax rules and regs ? What source should one use to get the exchange rate to use— that CRA accepts?

Q: These 4 stocks, held in my TFSA, in roughly equal proportions, total approximately 5 % of my registered and cash portfolios. All are down except for EIF. My TFSA is where I put my riskier growth stocks ( EIF slipping in there somehow). Each has their own theme and while I am in no hurry to sell, I am looking for your opinion on them while I conduct my semi annual review. Your comment on their strengths/weaknesses, growth potential, ,management , buy hold sell ,would be appreciated. Derek

Q: Which chip company would these four things best describe:

- Huge drop in stock price this year

- Recent cost-cutting moves that will boost cash flow.

- Making good progress on the goal of making chips in the U.S.

- Highest dividend yield in years.

On the chip company AMD specifically, I understand you are high on this stock. Am I reading it correctly that the present PE is around 44? Is this valuation not concerning going forward into this uncertain economic environment (rising interest rates, sudden chip over-supply, etc.) ?

Q: Market reaction to earnings can be odd, as you well know. DOO blew the doors off on revenues, earnings and outlook. The bump from the good news didn’t last as long as it took me to go get a coffee. I guess the answer is all the good news was baked in, in the runner-up the past week or so, or it’s just that kind of market. Nothing pleases it.

Q: I have a recently acquired full position in SHOP in anticipation of a rebound over time. I also have a half position in BAM A and am trying to decide whether to overweight SHOP or be more cautious and bring BAM A to a full position today prior to the split ? Which would be your choice ?
