Q: I am looking recommendation for a solid long term Canadian growth stock, that one can largely purchase and forget it. This is for my grandchildren's portfolios which currently have a core holding of VEQT and small satellite positions in MICROSOFT, COSTCO and Visa. The portfolios are expected to be held for a very long time. I do monitor the positions currently on a quarterly basis.

Any thoughts on this approach and possible securities that would fit the bill?

Q: I have REAL in both my TSFA and non-registered accounts. I would like to get rid of it from my non-registered account. Could you suggest a replacement (I do not plan to repurchase it? Do you suggest selling it from the TFSA or waiting for it to turn around a bit?

Q: I own TSU and up 40%, this stock has moved 5 fold from late 2019 and current price level is closer to ATH seen last August. Looking at it technically might breakout above $50 and move up. on fundamental basis is this stock still has legs to run considering gloomy 2023 prediction for the market?. Or should I move into names which would provide upside and added risk

Q: Hi team,

LSPD is my largest position in my TFSA and it is down 75% from my purchase price. The TFSA itself is down 50%.
You are obviously not positive about the future of LSPD. And, at 82 years old, I am not in for the long term.
My choice is to sell to save whatever is left of it or to keep it with the hope of selling it later with a smaller loss than now. What do you think ?
What would you do if you were in my shoes ?
Thank you for your attention.

Q: I am wondering about my cash position. Given so many things affecting investor confidence how long do you expect to maintain the cash levels in each of the three model portfolios? What might cause you to make changes?

Thank you,

Mike

Q: Looking to sell either SYZ or AQN for a tax loss (will still retain SYZ and AQN in registered accounts). SYZ in an unknown, so I am thinking it may be the better one to get sell. AQN will still pay some kind of dividend and is more likely to improve with time. Would appreciate your comments.

Q: Hello 5i Team

Further to Larry's previous question on preferred shares.

Farstad Portfolio Management (Scotia Wealth Management) publishes every week as news the Scotia Wealth Management Daily Preferred Share Analysis which lists the reset date amongst other preferred share information.

https://farstadretirement.com/#news

Otherwise one is forced to download the prospectus for each individual preferred share issue to determine the reset dates (for all approximately 325 preferred shares issues on the TSX not including split shares).

Thanks

Q: Hi Folks,
I've held BNS in my RRSP account for a couple of years now. I also hold TD. I am breaking even with BNS, would this be a good time to switch to RY. I realize there is a difference in the dividend but I am looking 5-10 years down the road.
Thanks

Q: Hi,
Just wondering what would be the best type of an investment vehicle for money I will want back in possibly a years time? GIC's are giving over 5% but would a bond fund supply a better overall return and if so what bond fund duration would be best for this time frame? Appreciate any suggestions.
Thank you.
