Q: Hi 5i, The FED seems to monitor lagging indicators for policy decisions. Could you give your views on these indicators and also provide a better, leading indicator for investors to follow. And links to these indicators would also be great.

Thx again for your sanity in a insane market!

Q: In my holding company trading account with a year-end of Oct 31, I plan to sell these losers in the next few days to offset earlier capital gains. I expect that these companies may drop even further during the tax loss selling season. Do you see any potential for any of these companies that might lead me to buy back the shares after 30 days?

Q: Hello, Most Banks and Utilities got hammered today mercilessly and stocks in these sectors made new 52 weeks Lows. Any specific reasons, in your view ? Energy has held very well and Tech sector appears to have found a bit of a ground. Treasury/Bond yields seems to have resumed their upwards trend after a brief 2/3 days pause. Many Experts (5i included) have indicated that there was a lot to feel good about in the two days of market rally, including strong market breath, the VIX topping at 34, on Friday etc. Do you think, it's not All Clear yet and market could test new lows ? Thank You

Also thining of Emera or perhaps ATCO for better diversification. Which of these or others would be your preference for another utility in a portfolio?

Q: In a dividend portfolio would you prefer Scotia bank with its higher yield despite recent concerns in respect of the new CEO or National Bank. We also have TD and Royal in our portfolio. Similarly would you prefer Manulife over Intact Financial for now given the higher dividend for the current time.

Q: I'm thinking about selling PXT now (say mid-October) to lock in the tax loss early, and then buy back later (over 30 days, of course) at a even lower price (gaining more shares hopefully).

I know PXT is depressed due to the local political issues in Colombia. Do you have any updates on these problems? What are your views on these situations? Is PXT still a good investment? Thanks.

Q: Hi, I have heard a market commentator mention more then once that there is good possibility that Quebecor will eventually buy the remaining shares and take TVA private. I understand Quebecor does own 65% of TVA. According to a newsletter I subscribe to It now appears quite cheap on a few metrics such as Price to cash flow, PE and has low debt. It’s also near its 52 week low. Only negative in can see is decreasing earnings per share from 2021 to 2022. Do you see Quebecor taking TVA private at some point in the future and if so why or why not? Please rate the probability on a scale of 1-10 whereby 10 is very likely. Many thanks for the excellent service that you provide.
