Q: Is it too early to take a starter position in the Nasdaq 100? What would be the best way to do so, avoiding currency issues and tax implications. Many thanks.
Q: Recently you answered my question for US dollars in my US RRIF account.Would it be better to transfer US funds into my Canadian RRIF to buy those stocks you suggested. Tks 5i
Q: Any idea why this company is not enjoying the January run or bounce. Inflation data shows its easing, hinting at interest rate stabilization.
Q: Dear 5i,
I am pleased that you answered my last question, thank you. I would like to clarify something related to this question. According to the logic that a full position is 5%, an investment of this type, with 20 stocks at 5% weighting for each, cannot exceed 100 thousand dollars. 250 thousand dollars for example would make a weighting of 12.5% for each stock, which would be very high. Am I wrong? Is a basket of solid international companies like this one an exception.
Thanks

Q: Hello All,
A strategy occasionally mentioned is to consider buying at 52 week highs because it suggests continuing upward momentum .
I am following a few names which keep rising however am loathed to buy at this time because of the possible threat of a market correction.
Would you be willing to suggest any companies that you would almost certainly be buying, into recent highs, despite the looming threat?
Thank you

Q: My question is on US stock market in general. Due to this interest hike and other market conditions, you think those companies which have more sales in US will have better chance to show growth in sales and profit compared to large caps with has more sales outside of USA. Your opinion. If yes than if you can name some industrial names which has bright growth prospects.
Thanks

Q: Unfortunately, I invested a small amount of money into Voyager Digital in 2021. It declared bankruptcy in 2022 and announced in December that another company is acquiring its assets and that company expects to return crypto to Voyager’s customers in kind. I’m not sure where that leaves me as a shareholder. I hold the Voyager shares in my TFSA and since it now trades OTC, I think I am not supposed to have them there. But the dollars are so small, I am wondering if I should wait and see if I can possibly recover a bit of my investment. Or should I move on. Would you have any recommendations? Thanks.

Q: I’m trying to understand the parameters of the special dividend being paid by Tourmaline.
The announcement reads: The special dividend is part of Tourmaline’s comprehensive shareholder return plan and will be paid on February 1, 2023 to shareholders of record on January 24, 2023.
Does this mean that you could buy shares on Monday January 16th, sell them on January 25th, and capture the special dividend with the only risk being a drop in the share price over that period?
Somehow this doesn’t seem reasonable to me.
