Q: Hi 5i Team - Trading in Sierra Madre Gold and Silver (SM - V) has been halted for many months now, starting around the time they made an announcement regarding an acquisition I think. Would you be able to find out why the long trading halt and if there is a chance of trading resuming sometime in the near future. Any other information such as insider holdings/trading, the status of the balance sheet, newsworthy projects, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Q: Good evening

What are your thoughts on these two ETF's ? I see you have answered a few questions on these already. I am thinking of buying ZSP.U for a long term hold. Do you prefer one over the other or does it really matter?

My main question is with US holding tax. Back in 2017 if I am understanding it right you answered that in an RRSP ZSP.U would still be subject to the taxes. Is that still the case? I am a bit confused as all my other US holdings in my LIRA and RRSP have no taxes held back on dividends. Before I buy I want to be sure my dividend on ZSP.U will not be taxed inside my LIRA.

Thanks Jimmy

Q: Apparently, there are 11 major sectors in the S&P (Global Industry Classification Standard). Could you please list one ETF to best represent EACH major sector of the S&P? For example, would IUIT best represent the entire Info Tech sector of the S&P? It seems the SPDR funds are much more specific than the 11 GICS sectors:
Information Technology
Health Care
Financials
Consumer Discretionary
Communication Services
Industrials
Consumer Staples
Energy
Utilities
Real Estate
Materials

Thank you very much.

Q: Hi There!

I and family own CDR shares on NEO of several US companies. I thought that, as they are fractional shares of the main shares they would mostly move in same direction of the parent shares. Lately I’ve noticed quite often even though the main shares are up on a day the CDRs are moving lower sometimes significantly. I can understand a few things that may cause this such as USD/CAD FX or perhaps it’s trading volume differences. Can you please explain this further?

Thank you!

Q: I have already asked a question about this security. Thanks very much for your answer regarding the payments being interest and not dividends.
I just can't understand this security. It is an inflation linked bond with a maturity date in 2040. The new year's interest rate has been announced as 13.3% based on the 100 bond price. The current face value has declined over the last week even though the interest rate has gone up by just over 2% per year. The current rate on face value of 137 is 9.7%.
I know about the thin trading volume and the potential for Constellation to redeem the bond with 5 years notice.
What am I missing?? Is there a good reason not to put a fair chunk of fixed income destined money into this debenture?
Thanks as always for your insight!!

Q: In reference to Paul's question yesterday. That ZWU from 2017 to 2021 of that nice dividend 1/2 to 1/3 was a return of my own capital, Considering that, I'm surprised that 5I has recommended ZWU. What I thought was a very nice dividend is not. Now I'm wondering how many other covered call stocks are doing the same? The underlying stocks don't give a return of capital, right. Next I'm going to find out there is no Santa.

Q: I am looking to add to one or both of BN and BAM. Do you have a preference on one or the other. I know that one is growth oriented and one is income oriented but are their present valuations similar - is one priced better than the other. Thanks.

Q: Hi, will the new BAM and BN only pay out dividend income and not any other type of income like ROC or interest etc as the other Brookfield entities have over the years. I will buy them in a cash account and don’t want the record keeping hassle the other entities are known for. Also, any idea what the yield on BAM might be? Lastly, do you think this is the final BN spinoff? Many thanks for the incredible service you provide.
