Q: Please provide rationale for holding BRNE over BN or BAM. I hold a small position (in a registered account) in BRNE and was thinking of flipping it into my BN holding but am I missing something. Is there something in the BRNE business that could create long-term outperformance over BAM/BN?

Q: Which sector classification would you place this security?
Q: Hi Peter and staff
Yesterday a member asked for a recommendation in each sector with dividends
The choice in consumer discretionary of CTC.A versus QSR surprised me a bit based on previous answers
Please compare and rank QSR CTC.A and LNF for me please
Thanks for all you do

Q: Hi 5i,
If I remember correctly, when Brookfield took over CHR you thought that might be "transformational" for CHR. I've always liked CHR (for some irrational reason I think) and have been in and out of it over the years, sometimes to my benefit and sometimes not. And back in the day it had a pretty nice dividend. After Brookfield got involved, and hoping for a transformation (!) I got back in. It's been pretty steadily downhill since, although it seems to have shown some strength in the last couple of weeks.
I wonder what your thoughts on CHR are now that it's been in the Brookfield stable for a while and given the current economic client. And also its prospects on the dividend front - considering that Brookfield has always seemed to me quite parsimonious in that regard ...
Thanks!
Peter

Q: Peter; It’s been about 5 weeks since CTS announced the interest in it and subsequent trading halt. In your experience, does the longer it takes to announce a result, like a jury (!) the better the outcome? Thanks

Q: Which stocks are still value stocks, and whch comodities stocks and green energy stocks you would reccomend today.
- Halliburton Company (HAL)
- Schlumberger N.V. (SLB)
- Mattr Corp. (MATR)
- TerraVest Industries Inc. (TVK)
- Trican Well Service Ltd. (TCW)
Q: I have a question for 5i with respect to the “oil service subsector” of the energy sector. I currently own some pipeline stocks (large cap) and some E&P stocks (one small cap and one mid cap), however, I do not own an oil service stock at the present time. So…. I have some questions and would appreciate your views on the subsector.
With E&P companies focused on balance sheets, and returning capital to shareholders, are those management actions having any impact on the oil services sector?? Your views please.
If you think the oil services sector is not unduly impacted by the E&P focus outlined, how do you view the services sector – is it a favourable view??
How might one invest in the sector, would I be better off with a large cap like Schlumberger, Baker Hughes, or Haliburton and if so which one (s) would you favour? If not, are there smaller cap companies that warrant some investor attention and what names come to mind, would your focus be US based or Canadian based – thanks in advance.

Q: HI Peter
I have held Acuity in my portfolio for the past few years .
Over that time in your responses to people asking questions if the company is a buy , sell or hold .You have responded it is a hold .
The stock has gone down from over 20.00 to under 3.00 .
In the long term do you see any potential of the stock going back over $20.00 .

Q: What is your opinion of Rupert Resources?
Q: Good morning.
We are retired and rely on our investments for income.
We are looking to simplify our portfolios and would appreciate your opinion.
We are hoping to utilize etfs in our rrsp and tfsa.
In our non registered we would like etfs and Canadian dividend stocks to utilize the the dividend tax credit as this is our main source of income.
At present our set up is:
TFSA. VDY
RRSP. VIG
non registered. 70 % (VDY. XIU. VCE with 15 individual canadian stocks )
30%. ( VGG. ZSP. ZNQ)
Is this too simplified?
Are there any etfs we should add or delete or would be better.
Thanks for your help.

How would you rank KXS, NVEI, TIXT and TOI for an add now, and I would appreciate a couple of reasons for the one or two you like best. Thanks.
