- McDonald's Corporation (MCD)
- Yum! Brands Inc. (YUM)
- Restaurant Brands International Inc. (QSR)
- A&W Revenue Royalties Income Fund (AW.UN)
- Domino's Pizza Inc (DPZ)
Q: I've read recently that digitalization has transformed MCD, and vastly improved margins in the process. I've also been reading how in general, robotics and automation is starting to get a toe-hold in some fast food restaurants.
This is asking a bit about looking into your crystal ball but do you see some similar positive transformation in either QSR and / or AW.UN in the future ?
I've also noticed that in recent responses to questions that you see value in these two names. I think QSR's P/E is about 21 which seems a bit on the high side. Is it ?
How well do companies like this do in a recession? One would think people would not have the extra cash to go eat at restaurants in that environment.

Q: Wondering what has happened with this company. It is now in US funds and no longer halted. Noticed some trading yesterday and today none. Will this be difficult to sell and do you see this trading again. If it does I'm assuming one should sell. Would there be any point in hanging onto it. Also, if no one is buying/selling what is process for getting rid of it to claim a loss? Thank you!
Q: A question about the debentures.
It’s a bit early, but what would you best guess as to the new interest rate reset this march which is determined buy the change in inflation year over year ..end December.
From csu last year
unsecured subordinated floating rate debentures, Series 1 of the Company (the “Debentures”) will be reset to 9.9% per annum on March 31, 2022. This new interest rate is equal to the annual average percentage change in the “All-items Consumer Price Index” published by Statistics Canada during the 12 month period ending on December 31, 2021 plus 6.5% and will be reflected in the June 30, 2022 interest payment on the Debentures.
The current interest rate of 7.2% will remain in place until March 30, 2022. The interest rate applicable to the Debentures will continue to be reset on an annual basis on March 31 of each year.

- Andlauer Healthcare Group Inc. Subordinate Voting Shares (AND)
- D2L Inc. Subordinate Voting Shares (DTOL)
Q: Hi,
Can you provide general comments on D2L's latest earnings release please?
Specifically, any concerns about their 3 month and 9 month adjusted EBITDA (loss) and their updated financial outlook? Other released financial metrics appear to be positive.
Is this still a long term buy?
What is your take on Andlauer's early warning report released Dec 7, ie..."agreements to sell an aggregate of up to 1,760,000 subordinate voting shares in the capital of the Company ("Subordinate Voting Shares"), representing approximately 9.64% of the issued and outstanding Subordinate Voting Shares, for investment purposes."
Almost 10% is quite a lot of shares is it not?
Is this still a long term buy?
I don't currently own any of these shares but they are on my short term watchlist.
Cheers,
Steve
