Q: I have a incorporated small business with some excess cash. I am taking out a small amount every year but the bulk will not be needed in the next ten years. No new cash will be added. I was thinking of investing half in EIT.UN and half in ZSP, but both are near all time highs. I would also be fine holding a handful of individual stocks. Would you have some suggestions? Thanks!

Q: I have a 3% weighting in USD RRSP account, would their be a better bond play/recommendation than this for capital appreciation in USD?
Q: Hello 5i
Could I have your current assessment of FTAI
Aviation? I see it is a top five holding in IWO.
Thank you

Q: Forgetting that these two companies are in different fields, which one would you choose to put your money into? Or maybe neither?
Q: Hi Peter,
US Central Bank finally starting to cut interest rate; however, several days last week and today, the yield for 2 years to 10 years treasuries are moving up. What is the reason behind this disconnect? Also, if my aim to purchase bonds is to maximize my capital gain resulting from interest rate cuts, is it better to invest in Target date bond index ETF like RQS, rather than buying an open end bond ETF like XBB? My understanding is that if I hold my Target date bond index ETF till maturity, my capital gain would not be diluted vs constant bond renewals in a typical bond ETF like XBB. Thanks.

Q: Wonderfi seems to have struggled even as Cryto activity and prices have risen.
Currently share price is back near its 52 week low so whatever they are doing seems not to be working even though crypto itself over the past months has risen.
If their revenue is generated merely as a function of AUM shouldn't the higher crypto price have led to better Profitability and going forward with crypto seemingly being accepted, alto not necessary endorsed, would you see any liklihood of another financial institution buying them to participate in the crpto market on an arms length basis?
Could any of the lack of performance relate to share dilution and lastly at this level could its current price justify a small investment?
Craig

Q: Just discovered something called CDRs traded on the TSX/NEO. Fractional shares in large US companies. NEO shows a list of about 40 of the most watched companies, priced between $10 and $30, all Can$ hedged.
For someone with a smaller pot, are these worthwhile, and why are they rarely talked about? Cheers!

Q: I realize you are not tax experts, but I wonder if you can, nonetheless answer my question. I want to donate securities to charity. According to Wikapedia stocks owned for a year or more can be donated.. I'm assuming that's a US requirement as I can't see anything suggesting Canadians can't donate more recently purchased stocks. I want to donate a stock I technically bought in January (CSU deregistered from my TFSA) and then buy it again. Do you know any reason I can't do this? Thanks
- Brookfield Renewable Partners L.P. (BEP.UN)
- Brookfield Renewable Corporation Class A Exchangeable Subordinate Voting Shares (BEPC)
Q: I am assuming that the recent increase in weight of BEP.UN (Income Portfolio) is also an endorsement to accumulate BEPC since they are supposedly “equivalent”. EPS forecasts for BEPC appear as grim as for BEP.UN, with increasing losses forecast for ’24 and ’25. In a recent Q&A on BEP.UN it was stated EBITDA is more relevant than EPS since it’s a limited partnership. BEPC is not a limited partnership so should it be valued differently? I don’t recall ever seeing a stock begin to trend up in the face of falling 2-year EPS forecasts. 5i has cited the expected decline in rates as a catalyst, but there must be other factors contributing to the rising stock price - perhaps rising revenue, confidence in management, …?
Q: If we do go into a significant recession over the next year, what sectors will do poorly and what sectors will likely be more stable? How might REIT ETFs perform?
Thanks!
Thanks!
Q: Thoughts on empire State, it was featured in Globe Advisor article today.
Q: Surge Energy and Payfare: 5i can you comment on whether these stocks are a Buy, Sell, or Hold at this time. Thanks very much. Cheers, Chris
Q: With doordash leaving payfare which company could they possibly go to
Q: I'm looking at buying DWLD Davis Select Worldwide ETF. On the TD site, I'm looking at a price of 38.03 with a bid/ask of 37.63/38.62.
On the Itrade site, it's also got a price of 38.03 but a bid/ask of 38.01/38.15. How can these two sites have such wildly different information for the same ETF and how do I price a bid when I don't have a clue what others are bidding? I did refresh both sites several times over about 20 minutes but neither changed much.
Also, what do you think of this ETF?

Q: Hello 5i Team
My understanding is the merger / share consolidation between Liberty Media and Sirius (old) in now complete.
From the September 10 news release I understand the new dividend will be approximately US$0.27 per quarter.
Questions:
1 - When will Siri report quarterly earnings?
2 - Is SIRI a reasonable investment (dividend investor seeking some growth).
3 - What are some of the relevant financial metrics to look at for this stock. I am hesitant to look at "old" metrics as there has been significant financial changes from the merger and share consolidation.
Thanks

Q: Hello Peter,
Is AOS smith a good long term hold? What is your view on payfare's announcement of losing a major customer? Is this still worth holding for potential decent return in the long run given it is in fintech space? thanks very much
