Q: My daughter is planning to start a new TFSA (full $88K) and contemplating the following:
Option#1, Autopilot All in one global index fund, such as XEQT or VEQT.
Option#2, All in Canadian equity index fund, such as XIU or XIC added to XEQT or VEQT.
Option#3, 5i favourite picks, such as BN, GSY, DSG, TFII, TOI and WSP .
Please advise which option is best for a buy and hold long term TFSA investment or suggest a better alternate. Thank you. Bill.

Q: What does this statement mean and how does it affect shareholders?
"Finally, investors' fears are becoming reality because Rivian has just announced a bond issue aimed at raising $1.3 billion. The company intends to sell convertible notes, or bonds that can be paid back with cash, stock or a mix of the two, according to a press release.
Investors buying these notes will also have the option to buy additional notes worth up to $200 million, according to a statement dated March 6 2023"

Q: Dear 5i team.
Here we go again with the annual US debt ceiling shenanigans.
This time seems to be a little different as the level of crazy appears to have ramped up in the US political sphere.
May I ask for your collective professional views on what your crystal ball says the possible initial market reaction (bond/equity) might look like assuming they DO NOT come to agreement in time, this time around?
Is there a preferred position on Bonds you would suggest if such a scenerio materialized?
Look forward to hearing your views on this.

Q: I was intrigued by your recent response to a question about SHOP (Good time to get back into it). Response was .. "There is always risk, but the company presented at a conference last week and management noted there has been 'almost no' pushback from customers from its recent price increase, and that business conditions are 'better than previously feared'. We would be comfortable owning it. "
I view the information as positive for SHOP as you did as well. If the question was never asked, this bit of news would be silent to us. Obviously 5i was aware of the news. Is there any way this type of information could be made available to clients as it becomes known? Or do we need to fall into the regular pattern of asking questions on favourite stock holdings if there is any recent news on companies. Is there a source where we can access this type of news?

Q: Hello 5i team,
I was thinking of taking advantage of this SVB fiasco by adding to my BNS shares.
I mainly hold BNS for income and was wondering what was the payout ratio at this time? Has the ratio increased over the past few years (BNS shares declined ~30% from its all-time-highs in the past year)? How comfortable are you in adding for income purposes?
Thank You,
Andrew

Q: When does WELL intend to release 4th quarter and year end 2022 financial results?
Q: It has dropped significantly in the last two days. Do you buy or watch? Clayton
Q: In some interesting reading sent to my inbox by 5i, one of the articles by Joe Wiggins talked about long or short term investing and I see by the bar graph, if you are a one year investor it was a 55% return and if you left the investment for 10 years, it would be a 15% return. From what I see, it looks like you are better off being short term. Maybe you can interpret this better than I. There was a lot of heavy reading involved. Thank you,
Q: I really like the look of this company's juicey dividend, but i am concerned about the trend of all the doctor's (mine included)even though the pandemic for the most part completely over they are still doing a lot of telephone appointments, and the need for office and clinic's i would think can only decline going forward in our digital world.
Maybe i am overthinking this but this, looks like a good entry point, your thoughts would this be a buy for a2-3 year hold,,,Thanks

Q: What is the free cash flow yield? And doesn't this signal that this is very cheap at the moment?
Q: CSTL Could you comment on earnings, revs are up 53 %, they guided to almost double them by 2025. Business here looks good. Cash flow did decrease based on acquisitions... is this a company building a profitable, invest-able future? Your thoughts?

Q: Good morning,
Can you please give us your opinion on Profound Medical after their earnings miss this week? Is it still worth holding, or do you feel the cash burn will require share issues and resulting dilution. Thank you.

Q: Non registered account : I sold a majority of stocks in 2022-2023 in order to convert them into a diversified dividend ETFs portfolio.I though intend to only keep" safe stocks for long term".Please could you rank them in this "safety perspective" , a "hold, buy, or sell" comment would be greatly appreciated, considering the fact that in this case, selling a stock would result in "buying an ETF in the same sector" .Many Thanks for your excellent website ,J-Y
