Q: Hello 5i,
I couldn't find an answer for this question, so I hope it isn't a repetitive one. If so, my apologies.
Given that BCE will cut the dividend (even if just for argument's sake), what will be the impact on the share price? In your experience, does the size of the dividend cut generally equate to a similar sized rebound in price, or a fraction thereof? If a 50% dividend cut, what might be the potential rebound compared to a complete elimination of the dividend?
And, finally, any sense of when the board would want to have that decision made?
Many thanks for your insights - much appreciated, as always!!
Cheers,
Mike

Q: Back in August 2024 it was mentioned that if the SSSG trends for PZA flatten out for the later part of 2024 it may be worth considering. Did they flatten out and is it worth considering now.

“Same-store-sales declined again in Q2 paired with royalty pool sales and adjusted earnings declining. We want to monitor the declining SSSG trends, and if they can flatten out over the second half of the year, we would then be comfortable stepping in.”

Q: Hi,
I know interest rates are going down and I know the population of Canada may not grow as it did in the last few years. But how would you rate these reits in terms of their fundamentals, management, payout, and their risks. If you can rate from 1 to 10, 10 is the best, 1 is the worst.
Thank you

Q: Using your SMID rotation theme in the i2i report, please suggest a basket of stocks that fit this theme and an entry price if it's beneficial to wait for a pullback. Would you look at buying, for example, 5 or so at 2%? Thanks!

Q: On Gear: I understand that 82% voted for the Gear Energy sale, and the new company Lotus. Does Gear have a timeline, for settlement with the shareholder. As an example, if one has 1000 shares, how would the settlement happen, how much cash would one receive, and how many Lotus shares ? When will Gear be delisted ? Given the poor deal that was struck by Gear, I have trouble believing 82% voted for the deal, but that is another topic, for another venue?

Q: Can you name a handful of ETF options for long term holds in my son's RESP account. Growth, dividend, and balanced. Looking for exposure in Canada and USA. I don't want the headache of managing stocks for this portfolio. I'd rather have something that I can just buy and not look at it for 15 years until he needs it.

Also, can you advise if VBAL, VGG, VIG have non-eligible dividends.

Q: A recent new guest to BNN’s Market Call made Saputo a top pick. He seemed to have quite a breadth of knowledge on the company and made (to me) a compelling case for Saputo having the potential to do well from its current valuation and that there was too much pessimism on the company and seemed to see a viable path to recovery in areas that have been lagging since the pandemic and a return to previous margins that could support multiple expansion. It seemed a bit contrarian based on momentum and other factors possibly at play right now with respect to tariffs etc., and also interesting as a top pick he will be faced with defending in a years time. Any thoughts since the last question a few months ago (I think you didn't like the momentum but found it was getting “interesting”)?

Q: Do you think the insiders have a solid track record and have enough "skin in the game"? Do you think they have enough capital for the next couple of years to execute their plans or would you be expecting routine dilutive offerings over the next five years? Your thoughts on the pros and cons of this company please.
