Q: Good morning.
We are retired and rely on our investments for income.
We are looking to simplify our portfolios and would appreciate your opinion.
We are hoping to utilize etfs in our rrsp and tfsa.
In our non registered we would like etfs and Canadian dividend stocks to utilize the the dividend tax credit as this is our main source of income.
At present our set up is:
TFSA. VDY
RRSP. VIG
non registered. 70 % (VDY. XIU. VCE with 15 individual canadian stocks )
30%. ( VGG. ZSP. ZNQ)

Is this too simplified?
Are there any etfs we should add or delete or would be better.

Thanks for your help.
Victoria

Q: Have just sold MAGT after the news of the takeover. Looking to use the funds to top up one of 4 smaller technology positions, KXS, NVEI, TIXT and TOI. Already have full positions in CSU and DSG. How would you rank KXS, NVEI, TIXT and TOI for an add now, and I would appreciate a couple of reasons for the one or two you like best. Thanks.

Q: Have held shares in each these companies for a while and they really have not done much. Would appreciate your opinion on each. Should I continue to hold the shares or would it be better to sell and move on. Could you please provide rationale for your recommendations. Thanks.

Q: Hi Everyone at 5i!!
I own Maw global small cap and have rode it up and down. I am given to understand that it is a good fund but the MER is high. Is there an ETF of a similar nature that I could reinvest my money in??

Cheers,
Tamara

Q: Hi Team,
Looking to have your thoughts on why Topicus is not participating in the recent tech rally that's been going on...especially yesterday? I know its a odd trader. But is there anything fundamental holding it back? Or do big investors (fund managers and such) avoid it because they are not share issuers? This being said...do you also see this as an opportune to add, with anticipating that TOI shares will eventually "catch up" to the over all tech bounce here? Thanks for your thoughts!

Shane.

Q: I am interested in increasing my current energy holdings (ENB, TRP, WMB, LNG, TVE, TOU) for higher dividends, likely by selling WMB for PNE, GXE or PEY but saw PBR with its huge 50+% dividend.

Normal questions apply: sustainable, country risk...? Is this the type of heightened div percentages Can companies are talking about increasing toward?

Many thanks.

Q: Hello 5i Team

I currently hold shares in Cogeco Communications Inc. (CCA) which currently have a capital loss.

Can I sell Cogeco Communications Inc. (CCA) and book the tax loss and concurrently purchase Cogeco Inc. (CGO) as a hedge for the next 30 days and then re-buy CCA.

Would this keep me on-side with Canada Revenue Agency and the superficial capital loss rules?

Thank you

Q: How would you rank these companies for growth, stability
and dividend security? I'm thinking to trim WCP and FRU
to add these others.

Thanks

Q: I am down 80% on enw in my TFSA ,and down 8% only today (related to the news ?); please could you give your point of vue on the present situation, and on the future of this Cie,since at this level, selling would be only justified if there were no significant hope of coming back to former valuations..
