Q: Hi 5i, I was listening to a steel analyst stating that "value added steel manufacturers" like Russel metals would be exempt from steel tarrifs. I realize the companies that actually make steel and the steel outputs for downstream manufacturing will be taxed. If this is true then aren't companies like the one mentioned or DRX or HPS also exempt? Now if anything manufactured in Canada is taxed then all bets are off.

Thx

Q: If the Globe is to be believed Apple owns 20% of Globalstar courtesy of a USD 1.5 Billion financing. Globalstar in turn has added $750 million (CAD?) to MDA’s existing contract to build satellites for Globalstar. The satellites will be manufactured in Montreal presumably tariff free provided I suppose they don’t use a US launch site.Do you know if there are Canadian launch sites/companies? Is Magellan Aerospace a candidate? Any thoughts you have would be appreciated.

Q: Dear 5i Team:

I always enjoy your 5 from 5i section. Usually contain at least one if not more thought provoking articles and help me to understand the BIG picture better.

First a non-question! Who in the team "curates" these articles?! Thee is some consistency here.

From Ritzhold's article: Based on their take on opportunities, what are the stocks/sectors you would suggest? Financials? Stocks that will benefit from inflation!! Energy. I couldn't "decode" this article into actionable ideas.

Q: Is Descartes stock getting expensive or the valuation is reasonable, considering their growth prospects and US policy towards tariff / possible trade wars?

We have been wanting to own this co. for past few years, but stock keeps moving higher. Would you be comfortable starting a new position now, or wait for a pullback ?
Also can you suggest an entry level, please.

Thank You

Q: Thank you for your prompt answer; I was not sure whether the company consistently advised much lower prospects or whether there was some seasonality to their earnings. My take is that corporate earnings prospects do need to be as accurate as possible and is an appropriate response, and guidance, to shareholders investment.
