Q: I note that CITI Group looks cheap with a P/E of 5.7X. It also has a nice yield of 4.16% and a Book Value twice that of it's share price. I would appreciate you opinion of this company as a long term hold. Also, I would appreciate your opinion regarding the significance of P/E and Book Value.

Q: Yesterday both GOOG and MSFT reported first quarter results. Considering this limited information which company would you invest intoday for a 2 year hold. Would you consider that MSFT results are reduced by a large "extraordinary charge" for termination of employees that is not expected to be incurred in the future in making this opinion. Thanks. Mike

Q: Bit of a gong show. Initial plans to spin off (with royalty attached so how much of a real spin off was it?). Change the spin off plan plan with shorter royalty life. Decide to can the spin off plan after spending substantial time and money (I have the half inch thick Proxy Circular). Now their Q1 is over of mine costs and short on revenue.

Is this company really a hold or should I give up and take the gain?

Q: Inevitably, when someone asks about the best NG companies in Canada, TOU and ARX are normally in the mix. So setting those two aside, I would appreciate your opinion on three other stocks in that sector that don't receive nearly as much attention. The stocks in question are Headwater Exploration, Spartan Delta and Pine Cliff Energy.

Thanks as always

Q: Good afternoon,

I am starting a RESP for our grandsons: one born in 2021, the other born in 2023.

To maximize the CESG grant I contribute just over 2500$/year.

How would you suggest to invest the funds ? 2 or 3 index funds?
Would you include a NASDAQ -100 index fund such as XQQ, ZQQ or HXQ or even XIT (Canadian tech ETF)?

I would appreciate your guidance.
Kind Regards

Q: Hi Peter,
I have over 6 figures to invest for 3 or more years for a Canadian holding company and am looking for suggestions to invest in each of the sectors, in a combination of ETFs and stocks. I would like to be more tax efficient where most of the returns would be in capital gains (total returns are mostly in the growth of the stocks, less in dividends). Investments can be in any geographic areas. In terms of risk level, I am comfortable with your balance portfolio approach, where it has some elements of growth.

One example I have, closer to income than growth, is HXH-T. It is a dividend ETF, low MER cost, with beta of < 1, pretty risk adverse. The price of the stocks is the index it tracks plus dividends.

Thank you,
Roger

Q: Thank you for providing a great analysis of the historical performance of LC, MC, and SC stocks after a 20% decline on Apr. 18. In a previous question asked by a member you recommended IJT as a way to buy the S&P SmallCap 600 growth stocks. What symbol do you recommend for the S&P MidCap 400 group? Thanks again for the amazing service you provide.

Q: Hi, Lumine is hitting new highs, Today $18-$19. Any thoughts ? Also, does it change the reasonable entry price level to add some shares ( from the last suggested $13.50-$14). Is it prudent to wait for a couple of quarterly results, as a publicly traded entity ?

Our current ownership is only the original spun out shares received. ( about 0.35% holding)

Thank You

Q: I have done very well on Novo Nordisk - likely because of the hype around Ozempic. Despite selling 10%, my position is likely close to double what I'd consider a typical holding.

I don't need the money and the stock has been a good long term hold. I am inclined towards holding a somewhat "fat" position. How do you see the valuation and is there any way to assess the value of things they have in the works?
