Q: Good morning!
I'm a retired investor and I am looking to lock in some fixed income! I have had very little exposure to bond trading but can use my TD Trader account I believe! What could go wrong, Lol!
I'm leaning toward corporate bonds...many friends have gone with GIC's but I like the appreciation of the bonds value should we see rates come down...is this a good idea or ?
Are bond ETF's as sure to see appreciation in value as individual bond holdings?
Thanks
Peter

Q: I bought LAC shortly before the spin-off. It's now been a bit over a week since the spin-off and my brokerage account shows LAAC with a cost per share which is equal to my original cost of LAC. And it shows LAC of having a cost which is about 71% of the original cost. (So it shows the combined cost for both is 71% higher than the actual cost). Do you know how the cost was supposed to be applied between the two?

Q: I would like to earn some interest on the cash that is in my trading accounts. However, it is surprisingly confusing.

My broker offers mutual funds from various institutions but each institution has a Series A and a Series F. What is the difference between Series A and F?

And then there are various mutual funds within each series (for example TD Series F has TD8151, TD8156, TD8158). What are the differences between the funds within each series?

Are there any other issues I should be considering while temporarily parking cash?

Q: Not sure if I understand correctly the transactions by insiders during the last few months. The corporation has bought and sold large amounts of shares. Individuals have bought and sold some as well. Looking at the overall number of shares traded I am not so sure that the result is positive. A second question is about the forcasts for next year (02/25) profit more than double. Is that realistic in your opinion and if so the stock is currently selling at 13 X next year's PE. I'm underwater in a registered account so no tax selling benefit. Buy more ? Wait for the next earnings release?

Thank you for your great advise.

Yves

Q: I have a proposal to lend money though my funds manager at a current rate of 9%. Here is what I read:
The management team conducts due diligence on each investment, only invests in industries where they have deep expertise, and holds the companies to strict performance standards. The investment consists mainly of floating-rate loans, where payments increase and decrease with interest rates.

Could you tell me what is this all about and your opinion concerning this kind of investment , many thanks

Q: With the proposed buy price $250 and the current price 248-249, and no additional bids likely does it make sense to sell now?

If I hold will I get an equivalent $ value of IMO shares?

And is there any idea when it would close?

Would we receive all the dividends in the meantime?

If the deal falls through would you expect a 10-15% drop in share price?

Thanks 🙏

Q: Tax Loss selling time is just around the corner and I would like to take advantage of losses I have in above companies. I have some gains this year and I paid taxes on gains for the last 3 years as well.
Would you sell one position only and which one would you suggest. I would like to buy back at the appropriate time as well.
I would appreciate if you could prepare us for this event of tax loss selling and refresh our memories.
Thank you!
Albert
