Q: I am having trouble making sense of their shareholders letter which is supposed to explain why PLUG has had difficulties this year; there seems to have been a shortage of H2 when PLUG makes the stuff, which makes their statements gobbledegook. What is going on - can you clarify please. I thought previous commentary had identified them as prime movers in a sector in which H2 was going to play a significant role.

Q: On Nov 10, "Dave from Montreal" asked if you knew of a Canadian based ETF that focused on Canadian growth companies. You said you couldn't help, but I think you mistook his question as asking for a Canadian small cap ETF. There is the iShares Canadian Growth Index, XCG, which is for Canadian Growth stocks. The MER is a bit high at 0.55%. The 5 year total return is 8.78% annualized. Top holdings include SHOP, CNR, CP, BN, ATD, CSU, WCN, NTR, T, AEM, which seems a bit of a mixed bag, frankly, for growth. The ETF is based on the Dow Jones Canada Select Growth Index.

Q: Hi, We have above banks with some losses in our portfolio and overall large capital gains already booked, from other stocks. In absence of any other Tax Loss candidates, Would you be fine selling Canadian Banks to book a Capital Loss, for 2023 and buy back after 30 days ? If so, would it be prudent to initiate the Sell, now and buy back after results, Or, sell after results and Buy back in January, 2024 ? Thank You

Q: Looking to add to one of these REITS in TFSA. Are they each favorites of yours in their respective REIT sectors (Industrial, Residential)? If not, which REITS are your favourites in these sectors? Which sector do you see doing best for growth over 2-3 years assuming rates have peaked and likely decline sometime in 2024?

Thank you.

Q: “Horizons ETFs Management (Canada) Inc. said that since no distributions are expected to be paid, the ETF will be more tax-efficient for investors who hold it in non-registered accounts.”

Can you please recommend me a few Canadian and US listed alternatives that I may want to consider?
