Q: i was looking for a better return than what the banks were offering on there money market td was paying me 4.05% on there tdb8152 money market account. i noticed today that cibc was offering 4.94 % for a monthly rate with a minanium $100.000 investment. on there cib238 money market rate. my question is why would a person invest in a return of 4.05% vrs 4.94 % other than the $100 requirement. how much more risk would be involved if i went this route. thanks
Q: Do you recommend a buy and hold approach or timing the market ? I am currently dollar-cost-averaging once per week into SPY, as I do not have much time to follow stocks. What do you think of this approach for someone of middle age with 20 years until retirement?
Q: Hi 5

1) For the stock list above would you please suggest a HOLD SELL BUY.
2) I would like to consolidate all of the above stocks into: NVDA GOOGLE and

Q: Although I'm not big into oil and gas with TOU being my only holding, this name showed up on screen of companies which may have low debt, decent earnings and dividend and upside potential. I realize its small in size, but wondering if I can get your opinion? Would it make it on to your buy list?
Q: CTS is in the red today and below four dollars. This is on the greenest day of the last month. Do you believe it will be stuck here until they announce their intentions of the review.
Q: Good morning 5i
Yesterday i asked about a replacement for Magna and you kindly offered tfii and ats. I like these suggestions. But, the problem ( nice to have such a problem) is that i am already quite overweightin tfii and am also overweight inthe industrial sector. So, i am hesitant to buy ats. Do you have an equivalent for ats? Any other sector is ok, although my technology holdings are high. Also a US stock would be ok. It may not be the right mindset but i would like something with growth that can help recuperate some of my loses on mga
Thanks
I see in my account that I have received rights equivalent to the shares in IGR that I own. I am unsure of the significance, my options, and/or a recommendation(certainly dependent on my risk/investment tolerance). Could you enlighten me please. I do enjoy the 12+% yield.
Q: VIRT has been banged up recently due, reportedly, to changes in U.S. regulations and their perceived impact. Do you feel that VIRT's stock price has over-reacted and that it might now be considered a buy?
Q: Over the years, I have heard some fund managers calling the ENB business model deeply flawed: taking on more debt to fuel ”growth” while simultaneously raising the dividend. If ENB was truly creating shareholder value I would expect that to be reflected in the stock price over a long period of time. Yet ENB stock has been flat for nearly a decade. Is it reasonable for investors to take on equity risk in order to earn 6% rate of return in a company with increasing debt? Would it not be better to invest in a company that can demonstrate some organic growth or accretive acquisitions?
Q: Hello 5i Could you comment on MR.UN as the share price has been at a low price for awhile and the possibility and wise decision for MRD to takeover MR.UN
Q: Dear 5i,
In regards to the March 21, article written by Michael Huynh titled Canadian Financial Companies with Robust Balance Sheets. I believe the GICS sub-industry classification for GSY is "Consumer Finance". Assuming GSY was included in the screening process. Can you help explain where GSY did not meet your screening criteria. I believe in general your team likes this stock.
thanks
Q: My Grandsons are 3 &1 old. They have 43% ZUT, 35% VFV, 21% ZWB and 0.9% BTCC.in their present RESP. I am looking for thoughts for the coming year deposit.
My thought are add to VFV (not enough now to reinvest),add a Reit ETF like TGRE or add an telecom ETF. I can not find a telecom ETF in Canada so maybe an alternative would be T.
All thoughts would be much appreciated.
Thank you
Q: Dear 5i
Do you think its important to hold more than one general market S&P 500 ETF in an RRSP account ? If so what Canadian and what US listed ETF`s would you recommend ? Is it important to hold both or just one or the other in an RRSP with regards to withholding taxes ?
Also if you own a Canadian listed ETF such as ZSP which holds individual US stocks , do those stocks held count towards the $100,000 foreign investment limit where a special tax form has to be submitted if above that limit in a nonregistered account ?
Thanks

Q: I was reading Steve's question RE: combining the RRSP and Spousal RRSP. Depending on the situation, there could be a downside because of the spousal attribution rule. This will depend on when the last contribution was made to *any* spousal RRSP and when the withdrawals will start.
Q: Any idea what caused the 12% pop in NKL today? There hasn't been any news for a month from what I see although that news was basically good. Thanks.
