Q: Hi,
Some months ago I had asked about non correlated assets and you mentioned Private Equity as an option and chose these stocks. (Also your perennial favourite BN!) I have half a position in BN and plan to add more soon.

Among the 3 (BX/KKR,BLK) which two are your favourite and why? Or you can rank order them from the best to your least favorite.

Q: Dear Peter et al:

This is more of big picture and history based question even though I am old enough know that the past performance doesn't mean anything going forward!

Has there been a period when Small cap growth or value stocks outperformed the Large caps growth/value during deflation/stagflation, recession with with a capital R or a lower case r, or even in a nominal sideways market? Do you see such a scenario evolving in 2024/2025? If so what are the ETFs that one could employ to benefit from such a scenario? Lightening up the large caps and switching to small caps for a year or two , is this a good strategy going forward?
I have included some of the ETFs that you are fond of from your Q&A. However feel free to add or delete!

Many thanks.
Mano

Q: I have two questions. Gold value is now above $2000 US and AEM does not seem to correlate the price of gold, is there a reason for that? I have heard about Cohere (https://cohere.com/), a language AI company based in Toronto, their list of investors is quite impressive (NVDA, SalesForce, Oracle, etc,). Do you think this company could be listed on the TSX in the near future? Thank you

Q: Looking at etfs in the US using covered call strategies and understanding the limits on their upside capture and limited aid to the downside I'd ask you to compare JEPI GPIX GPIQ JEPQ and SPYI. GPIX and GPIQ are new and thus will earn your caution that they don't have sufficient liquidity yet but I assume they will soon attract significant investment. Could you look at all 5 and compare their individual strategies, how they differ in terms of holdings and please rank them from an income investor perspective on a total return basis. Would you recommend such an investor hold more than one? A big question but I suspect many members including myself are invested or considering these etfs and would appreciate your input given the current market uncertainty and the growth of these covered call etfs. Thank you!!!

Q: Hello Team,

Does any of the above garbage is worth keeping until the new year? Why? Bought them all at their highs, 3 years ago, and have lost 75-95% on each in a TFSA account. Was hoping that at least one of them would make me proud. What a mistake!

Would you put the proceed to FFH, or SHOP? Or would you suggest something else for a faster growth (yet somewhat safer, eg BLN). I am not hoping to make up for this disaster. It is just to invest for the long-term without losing what little is left of the original capital.

Have a good week everyone! :)

Q: As a source of dividends, many Canadian “hydrocarbon energy” companies have a long and positive track record. Today, non-hydrocarbon energy sources have become more economically attractive, are growing quickly through significant investment, are becoming easier to support politically, and continue to improve through ongoing R&D. Against this backdrop of an accelerating shift to lower carbon energy sources…

Which Canadian “hydrocarbon energy” companies do you think are best suited to adjust to this change?

Q: Looking to add S&P 500 exposure in my portfolio through one of 3 ETF's;
VFV or EQL hedged or not hedged. Normally would prefer unhedged but with our low dollar may be some merit in selecting a hedged version of EQL.

What would you recommend and could you please provide some rationale for your recommendation. Thanks.
