Q: I am holding a lot of cash in anticipation of buying a condo in the next 6 months. My main concern is capital preservation. What is safer: short term bonds or HISAs? Assuming a significant decrease in interest rates during the next 6-8 months, would short term bonds offer a greater total return than HISAs?
Thanks!

Q: I have these bond funds: PGF510, CVC, ZAG, XLB, along with mostly GIC's in my fixed income side of portfolio. Do these Bond funds pay interest the same as the GIC's or do they pay Dividends so I would get the Dividend Tax credit? All are in my margin account. Would any of these be worth adding to now that they have gone up somewhat? Thanks so much!

Q: Although I realize you are not tax experts, I have a general question about holding ETF’s in an an open account. My understanding is that Canadian-listed ETF’s are exempt from the T1135 filing. So I believe HXDM, even though an International ETF, could be held in a non-registered account without any filing requirement. Is my assumption correct?

On the other hand, any ETF could be held within an RRSP without filing (eg. VWO).

Q: "We could see the mega-cap names move sideways relative to small and mid-caps in the near-term and intermediate-term, but we would not be willing to try to time this, as the probabilities from history and current valuations are on our side."

If someone were trimming mega-cap names to raise cash and capitalize on the potential for small and mid-cap names to outperform please name your top 5 Canadian and US companies that would be the first you put this cash into.

Q: Cipher Pharma made a major acquisition today that they say will double their sales and profits. The new products acquired are also superior to the existing treatment, which has 71% of the USA market, so lots of room there for growth, plus they plan to get approval in Canada and make a deal for ex-North America sales. They also have their drug for toenail fungus, a big market, set to produce final results in about 6 months, with sales expected starting in 2026. This looks like a good growth stock to me, trading at a cheap valuation, given the profit from the new products, and I am wondering what your take is on the acquisition and the stock.
