Q: FTS & utility stocks in general? Talking heads on BNN are saying sell because interest rates are going to go up-dah? They have no where to go at some point but up & when they do it will be very slow and gradual-which means the economy is getting better. So, would you be selling utility companies? FTS made another acquisition and has a history of > dividends-30+ yr in a row.

Q: Good morning 5i team
My question is about Savanna Energy (SVY). It seems to lagging similar companies (i.e Trinidad and Western). Is there something that I'm not seeing. I thought with their Aussie exposure they would be less affected by reduced business in North America? Could you please give me your thoughts. Thanks for your great service.

Q: Re: XEG
Hi Peter:

I bought some XEG for my TFSA at around $ 18 about 18 months ago
I am under water
I think the seasonal trade for energy sector to go up is around the summer, so I am hanging on before selling it to move
to some dividend stocks like BCE, IPL.
When does the normal seasonal trend for the oil and gas stock
normally peaks ? Thanks

Q: I'm thinking of selling some fts-t and purchasing either bce-t or ipl.un-t. Income and some growth are my prime considerations. Which of these three stocks is more likely to be affected most by further increases in interest rates?

Do you see any value in the global energy space? Are valuations and fundamentals attractive

Q: Hi Peter&5i: I have for some time now owned American Tower (AMT), on the thesis that owning the wireless infrastructure that everyone has no choice but to use is apt to be a pretty good gig. Also it gave me exposure to the American dollar through what I considered to be a blue-chip US large-cap. Within the last few days however Carson Block/Muddy Waters (remember Sinoforest?) released an exposé style report on AMT, concluding that it was close to double its defensible valuation. What do you think? I have been using it as a cornerstone holding. Would you trim it back before seeing how things shake out? Thanks!!

Q: hi 5i,
1) do you think the US housing "recovery" will sustain. a lot of the inventory has been bought by private equity and large funds. now they need a buyer, who will that be?
2) do you think gold has turned, or do you see more downside?
3) do you see a significant correction in the US stock markets coming soon?
thx chris
