Q: Hi Team 5I:
As a proponent of the "growing dividend" investment approach, I was thinking of ZDV (BMO CANADIAN DIVIDEND ETF) as a one stop, park it and forget it, purchase for all of my 18 year old child's newly created TFSA with $5,500 in it. Any concerns (other than the fee)? Any suggested alternatives, given the objectives?
Many thanks, Rick.

Q: Hi Peter, I would appreciate your thoughts on two contract drillers, Major Drilling (MDI.TO) and smaller Geodrill (GEO.TO) Would this be a good time to be buying this type company? This past year has been been brutal for them both and they appear to be good buys. Many Thanks.
Q: Peter my wife owns ECI in her TFSA and it is heading south-hold or buy more with this yr contribution. I own CUS in my TFSA-would you buy more this year or buy something else-recommendation if you think I should not buy more?
Happy New Year and thank you...JIm

Q: Happy New Years. Its TFSA time.Does the 5i team have a portfolio build strategy for a TFSA? how should a stock be purchased in relation to the whole portfolio.as the account size (hopefully) grows, will that affect what is held?
Thanks
Thanks
Q: AX.UN has a ATM ongoing.Do you feel this is basically a huge overhang on the stock and will restrict any upward movement? Thanks.

Q: Good morning,is ECI a buy here (~$8.00) or wait and hold?
Thanks Larry
Thanks Larry
Q: I hold X (U.S. Steel Corp.)and it has quite a run in the last quarter is it worth holding?
Q: I have a 4% position in silver through SLW. I would like to increase my position now to take advantage of the (sometimes) short term Jan/Feb seasonal pop in silver but also for a longer term hedge against potential inflation. Would you recommend sticking with SLW or diversifying into another stock/vehicle, and if so, what? Any general recommendations on % to be held in a portfolio and do you feel purchase at this time makes sense ?
Thanks for the great service you are providing.

The Globe and Mail reports in its Thursday, Jan. 3, edition that CIBC World Markets analyst Adam Gill is keen on Argent Energy Trust ($9.24 (Canadian)) in the wake of its recent $120-million (U.S.) acquisition of oil and gas assets from Wapiti Oil & Gas and Wapiti Energy. The Globe's Darcy Keith writes in the Eye On Equities column that Argent Energy issued $100-million (U.S.) in new equity to pay for the deal and is taking on new debt. Argent, however, still has a strong balance sheet, says Mr. Gill. He figures Argent Energy's payout ratio will decline to 116 per cent from 138 per cent. As a result, Mr. Gill rates Argent Energy "sector outperformer" with a price target of $12.25 (Canadian). The shares of Argent Energy have a five-month range of $8.95 (Canadian) to $10.70 (Canadian). The Globe's Boyd Erman said on Oct. 30 that Argent Energy was having a good run. The shares were then worth $9.81 (Canadian).
thanks

Q: Congrats on the site, I am a new subscriber and find the information useful. I am sitting on about 200k in cash at the moment. With the pseudo positive news coming from the states and the recent increases in most of your B+ to A recommendations, would you hold off on this entry point and wait for weakness? Would you be able to mark sensible entry points for some of your top recommendations ( Stn, Pki, bdi, cgx, Aya, csu, Bad, esl, Atp)?
Thanks,
Eric
