Q: I have been studying the insider trading at Brookfield (BAM.A). While officers in particular own a good chunk of shares in the millions of $ worth, and I'm happy to see that they have skin in the game, some have "indirect ownership" of a hundred million $ worth of shares and more. How would this ownership arise - through family or private corporations they control? Does it represent real money, which to me with my few hundred shares seems to be an obscene amount? Would these large number of share stakes have arisen through stock options, financed with low to no interest company loans? I attended high school with one of these super-lottery winners so call me envious...Jeff

Q: Hi, I am interested to know why Bell Aliant (BA) stock price has recently started to decline. The dividend yield is presently 7%. I have heard on business talk shows that BA might decrease their dividend. Would you at 5iResearch have any insight as to why Bell Aliant stock price is falling? Q: Hi Peter, could you please share your approach for analyzing the companies that show up in the 5i reports? I know you are an expert at reviewing their financial statements, but are there other steps that you take? Do you contact the companies via phone or talk to others from your many contacts who may have looked at the companies in detail? Do you see value in talking to the companies directly or generally just get a sales pitch?
