Q: Hi Peter, could I please have your opinion on the "Stingy Stocks" methodology noted in the newest edition of Canadian MoneySaver? Thanks!

Q: Have not seen this issue raised and I hope this is the right category. Do you believe it is nonsense or essential to hold all your equity securities in either share-certificate or direct registration form only, particularly for Canadian-based stocks/ETFs? Jim Sinclair (a.k.a. "Mr Gold"), who is a past president and owner of a New York clearing house, has been pounding the table about this matter in the US.

Q: You folks mentioned that PAR.UN is not a likely buyout target of Riocan because Partners is too small. But how does PAR.UN stand on its own merits as an investment? Currently it is $8, has a P/E of 8 and dividend yield of 8%. That's 8-8-8, which seems the luckiest possibility of all given it is Chinese/Lunar New Year next week/weekend.

Q: Welcome back to all of you. I hope you enjoyed and a well deserved holiday. I want to add my voice to those praising your concept for sharing investing information. It's exactly what I needed to answer so many of my questions. Your research certainly relieves a lot of stress. I think I'm making better decisions and getting control over my emotions. I'm learning so much by reading the Q and A,reports and magazine. Thank you for using plain language.
I was wondering if I could get your opinion on XTR for an RSP? Would this be a good idea for the fixed income portion? Thank you.

Q: Hello.
I'm significantly underwater and very frustrated with San Gold (SGR). Will this stock see the plus side of $2.00 anytime soon?
Cheers - Chris

Q: Hello 5i staff. I sure appreciate this fine service. I am a 61 year old aggressive investor. I have 10% of my portfolio in fixed income. At about $60k the fixed income portion is divided as follows. Sixty five percent in 5 high yield vehicles, FAP, TRH.UN, DYN9105, PHN280 and ATL908. Twenty five percent in corpoate bonds rated A and BBB, the rest in covertable debentures. With the prospect of rising interest rates should I sell any of the bond funds and switch into quality stocks? Thanks, Frank

Q: I would like your opinion of Angle Energy (NGL). They have a lot of good undeveloped land and will the recent sale of some gas production allow them to continue their successful drilling program of light oil properties.
Thanks

Q: Hi Peter I have held shares in PDN for a while and my cost is about $3.00 would you add at this level to lower your cost. Do you like it enough to wait for a recovery and do you see it as a takeover target. Thanks, Nick

Q: I am over diversified in my portfolio with over 40 stocks. Therefore I am trying to consolidate correlated holdings in the same space down to one name. I have three small cap E&P dogs in the form of Long Run Exploration (LRE), Torc Oil and Gas (TOG) and Gran Tierra Energy (GTE). All these names combined have declned to the extent that they now comprise no more than 2% of my portfolio.

As someone on the brink of retirement I am looking for some income while the junior oil and gas space treads water. Could you suggest one name I could consolidate into, out of these three? Or a completely different name in the same space with a bit of income.

Q: Just renewed for another year...your service is helpful and very cost effective for the average retail investor. I believe that oil prices are going to rise over the next year and would like your opinion on a couple of suggestions for oil stocks? Perhaps a growth and a dividend paying option. Thanks.

Q: When looking at prospective investments with respect to WIN and WCP, and even assuming that WIN is on the right track with the BT deal, is it fair to conclude, looking 5 years back up to now, that all in all, choosing one or the other is right ? If so, for peace of mind for the long term, is WCP, and its generous dividend, somewhat safer ? In other words, WIN might provide more sparkling, but WCP might better provide the goods. On the other end, WIN is a smaller company and a take over target, while WCP looks like a steadier performer. It's almost a toss. Makes sense ?
