Q: Hello 5i, I think Inter Pipe IPL.un is converting to a dividend paying corp from a trust unit. Could you explain the options on conversions as I think there is a limited time frame to make your choice as a shareholder as to taking a capital gain or not.
But in both cases you will still hold the same amount of shares.
Thanks

Q: Can you please place these Reits in the order that you would buy in today's market ? D.un , Ax.un , Cuf.un
Fcr , Cwt.un , Hr.un , Reid.un. Ap.un . I own all these and they represent 18% of my portfolio , I'am retired and need the cash flow . If I sell some of these names and buy the ones that pay a higher yield I would increase my cash flow , in your opinion is this taking on more risk , same capital but less names ? Finally if we get a housing correction in Canada , will that cause another leg down for this sector ?
Thanks

Q: Hi Peter and the 5i Team: My RRSP portfolio is beginning to somewhat resemble your model portfolio. THANK YOU! (There are still several "dividend payers" like EIF as well as some dividend paying ETF's like CEW and CAB remaining in the portfolio). I will need to roll over my RRSP into a RRIF by the end of 2014, and would like to use the dividends (for the most part) for the compulsory withdrawals. Are there any tips that you can suggest in terms of the most efficient way(s) to structure the RRIF? Your advice and recommendations are always valued.

Q: "It is better to teach a man how to catch fish than to give him one"...
In this train of thought, I was thinking about this question from a long time ago coming from a teacher in BC about recommending financial books. Over the years I read about 50 or 60 books on investing, finance and personal financial wealth. One book will remain because it is at the beginning of all things within the capitalistic system: "The web of debt" by Ellen Hodgson.
But there is more and today more and more courses about finance are available for free on the internet: Let me give you two sites that I have used: COURSERA and KHAN ACADEMY (6 million users, 4500 new videos on line each MONTH).
And finally for the french speaking out there (any?) the French version of some of the Khan courses will be available on the internet site of Bibliothèque sans frontières starting with mathematics as of september 4th.
As usual,if you think it is worth to publish, please do so.

Q: Hi, My question is about Gibson Energy, technicly speaking, looking at a 1 yr chart, it has completed a head and shoulders pattern and is continuing to decline. Fundamentaly, it had an OK 1/4, and seems to have a promising future, but I am now down about 10%. Should I hold and persevere, sell, and try to buy back cheaper over the next couple months, sell and add to my ALA,PPL, and CXS on further pull backs. Thanks for your help.

Q: Hello 5i,

What are your thoughts on the cloud computing sector? After IBM recently bought softlayer - Do you foresee more takeovers in the near future?

As a side note it would be helpful on the website to have a search function that isn't restricted to a stock symbol only.
