Q: When are the next quarterly picks out for the National Post? My question is motivated by a 14 year old grand-daughter who is supposed to pick out some stocks that will appreciate in the next 3 months for her economics class. OF course she suggested that she needs something that will go up substantially in this short period . After I explained the difficulties of this market, and then reviewed all the things that might impact this time span. Most of my holdings are very long term, and except for a few much loved gold juniors.
I am not quite sure in which direction to aim her research. I have mentioned Vialoux and Equity Clock for a seasonal slant. Any research suggestions will be much appreciated and credited of course to you. 3 months is a very short time.

Q: I read your article on growth stocks and have been hearing other comments to similar effect by various strategists. (ie the new value stock). I recall your liking IWO on the NYSE. Would this still be a recommended way to play growth?

Q: hello Peter:
first, thanks for a very fine service, and I mean that to the entire staff (good commentary, easy to use web-site, etc). Regarding NPI (Northland Power - I am thinking of selling Trans Alta and would like to replace it with a utility. Already own some Brookfield. I note that in July, you answered M S and said that you hope to cover it later this year. Is this still the plan? If so, please disregard the question: I'll just wait. If not, you said "OK in this type of market". What did you mean there? And, this company has a great chart. Is it too good a chart? Or, is BEP/UN just a much better place to be?
thanks
Paul

Q: Peter , read your comments on LIM, would the same go for LIF? Is lif connected to labradore iron ore fund at all? I believe lif has paid an extra div, on top of the normal dividend? I own lif, please tell me if you think the div is safe and anything else you can add. Thanks Ken

Q: Hi Peter and team

I would like some advice on what to do about my holdings of AGF.B I hold these shares in a taxable account and I could use the tax loss. They continue to do worse than anticipated on every quarter. Is it time to take my loss and get out of there. Thanks.

Q: Hi Peter,

Do you have a short and long term view on NKO resources. Do you think the current price is a good entry point for long term hold? What would be a reasonable target on this stock? Thanks

Q: Thank-you for this excellent service you're providing. I look forward to renewing in January. My question is on ALB. Any dividend increases were supposed to be applied to these capital shares, but the math doesn't add up - or at least I don't see where the dividends have moved up substantially. I understand now that these types of split corps (on the capital share side) are not the best investment. While I've held them since before the meltdown, I would have thought that with the many dividend increases in the last year, that ALB would have moved far more than it has. Would you continue to be a holder? Thanks in advance...
