Q: Peter; Could you comment on the disparity between the sharp rise in gold, almost $29.00, and the decline in SSL? Thanks. Rod

Q: Hi, Peter and team,
A year or two ago, a friend and I were dsicussing the US financial sector and came to the conclusion that as long as the stock did not "die", it should bounce back as time goes on. Based on this thesis, I started research on a few names e.g. BAC, MS, Wells Fargo etc. and was ready to take the plunge. Then I heard some fund Manager on BNN saying that the US banks were still risky although the PE, Price to Book..... look good because nobody really know what's on their books exactly. That stopped me cold on my track.
Fast forward to now, all the US banks have leap and bounced to recent new highs. My big question: should I "chase" these stocks since their fundamentals (e.g. P to B) still saying they are "cheap"
Thanks!

Q: Hey 5i,
First, let me say that I think your investment research subscription is a fantastic value for the money. I love the question and answer portion, it answers many of my questions without asking.
That being said, I got my butt kicked on PKI today. Sure didn't see that coming. Did I miss something? Do you still feel that PKI is a good selection? Of my TFSA it is 10%...should I pick up some more on sale? I like monthly dividends...safe?

Q: Hello, I noticed where Perpetual [PMT] has a NAV of $1.84 yet closed today at $0.86. Should that be interpreted as a buying opportunity? I realize they are mainly a natural gas company and are suffering the affects of a low commodity price. Your comments are appreciated. Thanks - Ron
Q: Hi Peter...great site!! I've seen a lot of people on BNN recommend CGI Group (GIB). Can you give me your opinion please?
Thanks

Q: Hi folks, interesting report on Equity considering the fragile Canadian housing market or are their mortgages more business related than residential. How would you rate the risk factor between investing in Equity versus Firm Capital.

Q: This is a followup to the question just answered re financial sector weighting - you suggested either FIE or SFN - I see the yield on FIE is double that of XFN - can you give some background on that - does it increase risk in some way ? Thanks again.
Q: Hello Peter & team. PARKLAND FUEL CORP - PKI, missed on earnings today. I had a tight stop on the position & was stopped out. The price is now way below my stop. Should one buy back now, wait a week for the price to settle, or go somewhere else ?
Thanks in anticipation,
Paul.

Q: What would be your pick between WFT, CFP, WY-N, and PCL. Is there a chance Italy and US politics could derail US housing recovery. Your analysis please. Thanks.
Q: What do you think of AAH-T Aastra Tech?, top pick on BNN, very low valuation, positive cash flow, good growth prospects, Thanks for your analysis Peter
Q: Hi Peter,
The environment and energy continue to be a large issue in today’s world. I am looking at a company named Alter NRG (NRG.T) that address both waste and energy issues via a plasma gasification technology. Roman Abromovich has been acquiring companies in this space and has just purchased 30% of Alter NRG. Their plasma technology is being endorsed by Air Products who is building a $400 million plasma plant in the UK (their largest one time investment). It would seem like the tipping point for the technology is here and I wanted to get your thoughts on investing in this company.
Thanks

Q: Hi Peter & thank you.
Today I notice the TSX ~ 0% but my 20 5i stocks are at -0.6%.
I'm not too concerned : it's usually the other way around ;-)
My question is : Is there a fundamental underlying reason why this would be the case given the current economic climate? Is there some weighing in certain sectors that make the 5i stocks in general more sensitive/susceptible to certain market conditions. Or is this just a coincidence?
Thx.

Q: I'd appreciate your thoughts on Automodular Corp. AM-T. Thanks.
Q: any opinion on Qualcom.
Q: Hi, have you had questions on KWH.UN Crius Energy this morning? It was mentioned in Rob Carrick's column as a top pick from National Bank Financial. Thanks, John
Q: Hi Peter & Team:
I have virtually no 'financial' sector weighting in any of my portfolios (RSP, TFSA or Cash/Margin). Could you comment on what approximate weighting you would feel is appropriate (looking at growth and some income). What do you think would be the best Equity or ETF choices in this situation and, how would you approach timing of purchase - everything now or a phased in approach ? Many thanks.

Q: Hi Peter, Paladin Labs reports this week. Is this a stock you follow? It seems to me that it is quite inexpensive with a lot of cash on hand and a coming bump in the earnings growth rate.
Is a dividend on the horizon for them? Where would you rank this stock? Thanks in advance.

Q: I would like to know your opinion of Mosaic Capital Corp (M). I own the preferred shares (M.PR.A) which have a dividend of 8.5%. Have you considered doing a report on this company? It appears to fit your criteria of companies which have little to no analyst coverage and pay a good dividend.
Q: After many years in the market with satisfactory results I am finding that the retail investor is becoming more and more at a disadvantage because of market manipulation.I now equate market investing to swimming with the sharks.High frequency trading(manipulation),short selling(naked and otherwise),false rumors, grey market trading and the ability of the hedge funds to attack any stock which may or may not be good value makes me question the wisdom of being involved in the market at all.Do you have an opinion on my concerns?
Q: i see win is at it's low again is there more bad news -thanks terry
