Q: I currently have a portfolio of 20 stocks with about a 5% weighting in each position. My investment objective is long term growth with increasing dividends. Three of my holdings are IPL.un(Inter Pipeline), GEI(Gibson)and ALA(Altagas. Are these companies sufficiently different to continue holding all three or would it be better to diversify into another sector? And if you were to sell one or 2 of these which would it be?

Hardwoods Distribution {HWD-T} has come to my attention as an equity that would allow me to invest in the lumber section. I understand that it is not a commodity stock .I would appreciate your opinion on HWD-T.

Q: An article of interest to members on Nobelist Eugene Fama: "So Fama’s ideas have made an enormous contribution to how people invest, saving them billions in fees which generated beautiful homes for fortunate mutual fund managers but less than nothing for their customers." - See more at: http://marginalrevolution.com/marginalrevolution/2013/10/eugene-fama.html#sthash.fZuPDfSt.dpuf

Q: Peter,

About a year ago you were on BNN stating that you’re after the next ‘50 bagger’. A few months ago, another member asked you about your fav past picks, to which you replied Priceline and one other (I believe). My question is related to smaller cap / speculative stocks, you current favs, and is obviously geared more towards those willing to go up on the risk curve:

1. Do you have a couple, more speculative, names that you are a fan of right now (ie. what you feel can be the next 50 bagger)? Anything that you are ‘pounding the table’ about?

2. Do you have any general tips / guidelines that you can share relating to investing in these size companies (ie. Don’t invest more than ___% of your portfolio in micro cap / spec stocks?)

Thanks you!

Q: 5i,

I currently own KBro and Magna, but remain underweight in Health Care and Industrial sectors. Based on your reports and comments, I think I will be adding all of: Paladin Labs, Stantec and MDA shortly. My questions:

1. Are they still good buys given recent positive run, or do you have another name with more upside?
2. Can you recommend a US name in Health Care and Industrial sector for me to consider (younger investor after growth)?
3. I can only buy 1 company now, the others in 30 days, which would you get asap?

As always, thank you. I was raving about the value received here at 5i around the Thanksgiving table!

Q: Thanks for the great advice over the past year or so. I've done very well with BAD, CSU, MG, ESL, STN and VRX. Now I want to lock in some of that "paper" profit. Two questions: how do the safety of bonds compare to bond ETF's (or do you recommend another option)? Second, what bond ETF would you recommend,if capital preservation is the main priority? Thanks!
