Q: Hey, guys. When a parent company plans on selling a smaller company it has a controlling position in on the open market, or spinning out the smaller company's shares to its shareholders (ie pbg and pbn), would it make sense for that parent company's management to first privately solicit offers for that smaller company?

I took what I want to be a long term position in mic this morning on the earnings and increased dividend news. However I'm wondering if my tenure as a shareholder in mic could be curtailed by genworth financial looking to unlock the value in genworth canada by putting the company up for sale.

Your insights are appreciated as always.

Q: My question is on LEG - legecy oil again. They just released some drill activity - which seems positive - however, I am always skeptic about these NR as they can 'spin' the results. They will be reporting their financials on Nov. 8th - without asking to much from you - in terms of you educating me - what should I be looking for? How do I access the results? This stock was $12 this year.....trying to understand if it can acheive this level again (as you know Eric N. from sprott - sure thinks so....this is one of his top pick's)

Q: Hi Peter: I'd like your opinion about Yangarra Resources (YGR). From their 2012 2nd quarter reports, their net income has gone from a 1st quarter loss of almost a million$ to a 2nd Quarter gain of over 6 million$ (before tax), but their shares keep slip-slidin' away. Thanks for any input.

Q: Mart Resources has stated that the pipeline deal is done and just waiting for signatures. The umu 10 well is being tested and results could be in the next 4-6 weeks I would guess. Would you think these events will have a substantial impact on the share price or not since it is a year before we will be able to get the increased flow rates? Is the good news already baked in ? Can you explain how the lost oil is really being stolen. Partners, Nigerian government? Thanks very much.

Q: Hi Peter. I have some holdings in CXF, First Asset Canadian Convertable Bond. I was looking for something stable with a better rate of return than GIC. Do you have a comment on this? They recently reduced their monthly interest rate. Is this a decent place to keep funds for fairly secure income, or would you suggest something else similar with a better risk/reward? Thanks.

Q: Hi Peter,
What about WPT? Natural gas seems likely to be abundant and cheap for years to come. They keep growing but don't seem to be able to make a profit.

Q: Primero's (P) numbers look great, and Charles Oliver named them a top pick today. But why did the company replace a convertible with equity on July 26, effectively issuing shares to Goldcorp at #3.74/sh, taking their ownership from 35% to 41%? And why did Goldcorp sell shares to the market on Sept 18 for $5.25/sh reducing its holding from 41% to 32% (looks like the 32% must be held until Aug '13 under a lock-up agreement). What do you think these insiders know that is pronpting them to sell at these prices?

Q: Peter, your insights are valuable - I was looking at BDI after your latest research update and you mention lots of inside ownership. I took a look on a well known online trading platform and found on "INK Research" in the last year Net Selling of $15.5M has been done by Sr Officers over at BDI. I know personal circumstances can impact selling but this feels a little less "Bullish" than net buying. The team may still own a whack of stock but I thought I would ask the questions to see if you know something by talking with Management. Thanks again for all your hard work.

Q: Peter, would you please give me your updated thoughts on Parrallel. The price of 4.12 is rediculous for the yield it is paying. Is the payout ratio really out of line? Looks to me like if they cut the div. by 25% it is still a great buy.Where would the .08 cent div. have to go to to be sustainable? Thanks Ken
