Q: Peter and team,

I'm a new member and first off just want to say that I find the info and responses provided on the website to be awesome. Easy to understand, thoughtful but to the point. I've watched Peter on BNN over the past couple of years, and always came away impressed with what you had to say, very glad that I finally made the decision to sign up with 5i.

Enough butt kissing, my question is on Bombardier. I consider Bombardier to be a core 2-5 year holding in my portfolio (currently slightly above my equal weight of 5%). My rationale is 3 fold, 1. trading near historical lows, 2. healthy pipeline of contracts, 3. Heavy political support for the company, and aerospace industry as a whole. Having said that, its still aerospace and therefore a huge risk.

What are your opinions of this company looking out in the mid term, 2-5 years, and even the Canadian aerospace industry for that matter? Are you with this as a core holding, or recommend that I look elsewhere for my Aerospace needs (ie. your recommended MacDonald Dettwiler and Associates Ltd.)?

Thanks!

Ray

Q: Just recently joined...what a great service you're providing!
I'd appreciate your opinion on iShares S&P US Dividend Growers Index Fund (CAD-Hedged) (CUD) held in a RRSP. Is this a good ETF for U.S. exposure or are there better alternatives that are hedged to the Canadian dollar? Thanks

Q: Hi Peter:
My main Canadian Oil holding is Cenovus (CVE). Are there other's you like better, or because of price differentials would you recommend moving to the US for an Exxon or Chevron?
If Keystone is approved our optimism would improve, however this is likely a long shot.
Thank you for your good work (fabulous)

Q: Could I seek your wisdom on AHH-T, Aastra Tech. ? I have been watching this stock and waiting for an opportunity to get in. Now @ $18.42. As it is experiencing a down turn I have seen no news for the cause (other than market direction). Morning star shows a Intrinsic Value Estimate of $21.03.
Your thoughts please?
Thank you for your service.

Q: STP has had a rough couple months, startup on SAGD plants is always challenging. How are they sitting from a cash and debt coverage perspective? Is there at chance they would need to raise money again any time soon?

Q: A comment on David's averaging up on Amaya of April 12: His portfolio of 3 stocks 1 year later is minus 6% because he didn't have a stop on the one that went from 10 to 3. I might still hold the one that went from 10 to 8 but surely one should have an exit strategy to avoid the big portfolio draining losses.

Q: Is Peter Hodson answering the questions or is it some other staff member? I have been investing in stocks for over 40 years on a fairly active basis. I know that Peter Hodson knows more than I do but if he is not answering the question, maybe I know just as much or more than the person answering the question. I do have access to large amounts of research and read and understand most of it. If Peter is answering some questions, could he put his name to it. Hopefully, he is answering all of the questions but I don't think that is the case.

Q: just a comment;interesting your comment on amaya i only average up and only buy more of a stock when it has hit 52 week highs.you buy 3 stocks jan.1 at 10.00 each equal amounts, 1 year later one is 17, one is 8 and one is 3, which do you buy more of, 99 per cent of people answer the one that is 3, but correct answer is one that is 17. dave

Q: Could you help me to understand United Corp. - UNC ? What I have found out: UNC is a closed-end fund in existance since 1929 currently under management by the respected firm of Jarislowsky Fraser. It currently trades at a discount to NAV of about 31% which appears about mid-point of its historical range. It has an ETF-like MER of .46%. It is very illiquid. In Nov/12 it changed its mandate to eliminate its Canadian equity component to focus on global equities. Questions: Why the huge Discount to NAV which is the norm not an aberration? What would be the caveats in acquiring such a fund? Would you consider it a viable ETF alternative for global equity exposure? Thank-you.
