Q: I am reviewing my oil and gas exposure and would appreciate your thoughts before repositioning. Generally speaking, what % of a portfolio should be allocated to the sector? There are many names I own or am interested in such as: CPG, TBE, PPY, BTE, LEG, VET, SU, ECA but I am also trying to respect the 20 stocks rule which is not easy. Can you please advise on which ones you would combine as core holdings (or other names to consider) to achieve a mix of stability, growth and income for the long term. Thank you!

Q: Peter; With a seemingly obvious increase in yields coming is there a ETF that would in effect rise when rates do or some other vehicle one could use to hedge their income type stocks? Thanks.

Q: Hi Peter & co.

Any thoughts on Amica (ACC). I noticed that the Globe has it as one of the top 20 stocks in terms of insider buying. Would you consider this a good entry point?

Thanks

Q: I agree with the stategy you have proposed on multiple replies that a staggered buying approach provides a greater likelihood of covering mis-timed purchases. Working within an RRSP, can you a few safe positions to park cash as the staggering buys of A-B rated equities takes place?

Thank you, and as always, find this site very useful.

Q: BPO
peter, thanks for the good advice. Iam looking for my tfsa. Looking at your previous comments on bpo, are some of the concerns re-NewYork market leasing out of the way. It seems all other REITS having gone up so much, would this be the one to get.
Thanks

Q: Hi Peter, I am a 50 year old, long term, buy and hold conservative investor and have about 35% of my portfolio in various pipeline and mid stream stocks including ENB, ALA, PPL, KEY and IPL.UN. I am building my portfolio to provide me with retirement income from dividends that will continue for many years to come. I have been concerned with the latest research coming from various sources regarding the potential for the U.S. to be energy self sufficient in future years and wonder what the effect might be on my portfolio positions. I try to minimize my risk and hope that this potential development will not have a negative impact on these stocks. I know that the future is very difficult to predict but would appreciate your insight on this topic. Many thanks.

Q: I sell a stock when my loss is 8%. But I've never really known when to accept the 8% loss and sell. Do I sell the moment the 8% loss occurs by using a stop loss order? Or at the end of the day the 8% loss is realized? At the end of the week? At the end of the month or quarter? There's always a part of me saying, "I'll give it another day, another week." Can you help me tighten up my sell strategy? Thank you. And I realize 8% is somewhat arbitrary. Some people will let a stock drop 20%.
