Q: If someone decided to split up your model portfolio between an RRSP and a taxable cash account, which stocks would you put in each account.

Q: WATD'B appears to be a good play on EU recovery. I like the fact they have purchased gas stations and are looking to create convenience stores similar to what we now have in North America.
I believe this ai already built into stock price.
If you believe it is a good stock...should I buy on pullback or current price. Any other concerns or comments appreciated. Thanks Gloria

Q: REally enjoyed PEter on BNN yesterday and paid attention to the comments about selling - that is when not sell. My question is when is the right time to sell? No stock is likely good to keep forever as there are simply always better opportunities at some point. So, yes, when then should I sell a holding?

Q: I consider myself to be an investor, rather than a trader; my time horizon for any stock purchase is 3 years or more. However, with the recent volatility in the markets I am tempted to hedge a small part of my portfolio with hedge ETFs such as HIX and HIU. Since this is new territory for me I am calling on your expertise to answer a few questions: do you recommend hedging; if so, what percentage of a portfolio do you recommend should be hedged; to use HIU and HIX properly would I need to treat them as short term trades? Since the whole prospect of hedging appears to me to be trading, which I am not keen on for myself, I am very hesitant to employ a hedging strategy.

I would like your thoughts on Killan Properties . kmp I purchased the shares at 12.20 and thinking of selling them at a loss.Or should I keep them to recoup my purchase price.

I have been slowly adding to my positions over the last couple of days with a focus on good solid businesses that have been hit with the current market conditions. (AVO, CGX, DHX, SNL). I am wondering if now is the time to add to DH, SJ, SUM, GIB. All of these seem to have been harder than most. Your thoughts.

Q: Thank you for your recent response to my question concerning ETFs for international and emerging market exposure. However the thrust of my question related to those funds employing fundamental as opposed to traditional indexing and I'm not sure that your response focused upon the former category. Please clarify. Q: Hi Peter:
How do you view buying stocks when there is an issue?
I bought some WEF Western Forest Products when Brookfield sold them at $1.45. This didn't increase the number of shares.
I bought some AAR.UN Pure Industrial with the recent issue at $4.55, new shares to pay for properties.
Now I'm wondering about LNV Longview at $4.45, Advantage is selling shares.

Q: Hi 5I,
I own JDS Uniphase (50 shares). I just received notice of the board 'resolved to redeem all of its outstanding Exchangeable Shares on March 31, 2014 (the "Redemption Date")'. It continues to advise of receiving one common share of "JDSU Uniphase" plus declared and unpaid dividends. It asks for a letter of transmittal of such shares to the trust company involved. What are my best options to deal with this request? Thanks a lot. Keith
