Q: This is not a question as much as a comment. GIL has been a long time hold and I agree with your comment "solid, well-managed company" but I rate it slightly higher than B personally. According to INK/TD; insiders have sold $15.5M with CFO selling $7.7M (some even as price dropping). Even tho I can't get my preferred Covered Call, I'll try to reduce my cost by a $1+ by selling some 4 5 wks. I know timing is not your thing but I thot some readers might like to read this. Great site. B

Q: Hello, I am looking for a stock for my son for his tfsa. He has about a 1000.00 to use. It can be aggressive with a long time frame. I've read some comments on sas, but would like opinions on other possibilities. Thanks.

Q: Good morning, Peter. Just renewed for 2 years at advantageous price. Wish all decisions were this easy. Power Fin has finally reached positive traction for me after several years under water receiving dividends only. Given your liking for SLF, would you swap PWF for that, stay as is or move proceeds to a bank or telecom? Portfolio is reasonably well-balanced.
Thank you and kind regards,
Geoff

What is your outlook looking two years out on SAS and what would be it's curent book value?
Thank you and have a GOOD Day,

Q: Peter,

First, I like the video!

I am hoping you a can address the role that analysts play in the movement of stock prices. On the one hand, I understand and accept that they can have a vested interest in a stock and therefore their predictions as to stock price and the interest they may show in a stock can be biased.

However, when it comes to projecting sales and earnings, their comments seem to be given a lot of weight, as in the company missed on this or that or the company exceeded expectations and the stock price almost always acts accordingly. If they have a vested interest as noted above, wouldn't they tend to underestimate these things so the stock will look good? they seem to be wrong most of the time anyway.

In a nutshell, then, why believe analysts on the one hand but not on the other hand?

Thanks,

Paul F.
