Q: I'm trying to get back into CNR or other railroad companies, but they seem pretty expensive right now. Is there an ETF covering this industry or do I have go to an industrial or transport play? I am also very allergic to the airlines and car industries. Any suggestions?
Q: Welcome back home! Doing some fall cleaning & like the current level of CTRX - down about 18% from it's high of $60. Based on the now implemented ACA (or Obamacare), this looks like an easy choice. Your expertize would be appreciated.
Q: Hi 5i, Sylogist, syz has been very quiet this quarter, after a great year, is this one just to put away and wait for quarterly earnings to come. Any advice on this one. Thanks as always.
Q: Most TSX stocks rose on the back of the political news today, but I noticed that Counsel was one of the minority that had a price drop. Anything in particular going on?
My primary major concern is with EIF's leaks, big drop in share price and then a quick bounce. Anyone having inside information, at one point yesterday, would have at least a 26% one day win off the low while the rest of us took it on the chin and in our pocket books to to speak.
Now today we have what looks like leaks in AET as per another member's question.
When do the powers that be step in and call these companies on the carpet to account for this behaviour?
I am an investor who can deal with volatility BUT NOT when someone else is playing by a different set of rules.
I know somone who emailed EIF but they did not even get the courtesy of a reply.
I would appreciate both your insight and suggestions for handling these kinds of events.
Q: Wilan issued news today " WiLAN and Sierra Wireless Reach Agreement to Settle Litigations
10:10 EDT Thursday, October 10, 2013".
I would have thought a trading halt would have to occur on this news. Are there guidelines on this?
Thanks
John
Q: Further to Brian on Sept 30th on preferred shares (PWF.PR.S & BRF.PR.E) are there other preferred of this quality available that pay a good dividend and are below par value?
Q: Constellation has been "A" rated and I think it's no secret it is the current favourite 5i Canadian stock for numerous reasons, great chart. I'd like to know what CSU would need to do to earn an "A+" rating to rise above its very few "A" peers; would a stock split help? If CSU can't make "A+" what non-Canadian company might be on the horizon for the "A+" rating, recognizing it's not your area of expertise? If I'd never heard of 5i I would not have been in CSU since $115 and since the initial purchase have averaged up, and I sure wouldn't be in "A" territory! Thanks, 5i.
Q: AC.B, would you buy this stock now for a short term trade? I never owned any airline stocks but was thinking of very small position of 5,000 shares as a trade-very tiny part of my portfolio. There seem to be a lot of positives coming together right now with this company??
