Q: Would RME be worth considering, seeing that it has pulled back somewhat lately?

Q: Hi Peter,

I have read some questions about "Middlfield offers to exchange ARTIS shares for shares in the MINT INCOME FUND". This reminds me of an investment "mistake" I did 7 or 8 years ago, here is the story: I had shares of Westshore Terminals (WTE), their value were of about $6.50, one morning I received a call from my broker (I do not have a broker anymore) who explained to me that I could exchange my WTE for a Sentry Select fund commission free! I have accepted the offer. As of today, the value of WTE is of almost $29.00, with a yield of 4.3%. I now understand why they wanted so much my WTE shares.

Since I have started to educate myself about investment and finance through Canadian Money Saver magazine and other sources, those kind of mistakes do not happen anymore.

Thank you,

Gervais

Q: Could you please give an updated opinion on Veresen (T-VSN). It has taken a hit with other utility companies over the past few weeks but still pays a good dividend of 7.84%. Is the current price of $12.75 a good entry point? It is right in the middle of its 52-week range of $11.22 to $13.91. The Royal Bank has a Sector Perform rating on the stock with only a $13.00 target. So there might not be much upside. Is it worth holding in an income portfolio, would you consider the dividend safe? As always, I appreciate your valued comments. Thank you.

Q: hello 5i:
I'm wondering if you could comment on Y.TO. I've just finished reading an article, point of which, this is a VERY undervalued company. Technicals are interesting as they've moved above the 20 day sma etc etc. i have avoided owning it in the past as the business model seemed quite flawed, but am open to questioning my belief on this.
thanks

Q: Many of the stocks on which you have commented are up substantially since your service started. When looking back at old comments, this can make it a bit of a challenge to know if they still represent good buys. Is it possible for you to include a price cap below which you would consider the stock worth purchasing or some other measure that could guide readers as to when it is time to look elsewhere for value? Alternately would you consider putting out a regular (monthly?) list of best value plays within the stocks you cover? Continued thanks for reasonably priced, unbiased opinions!

Q: The ad in the National post by Middlfield offers to exchange my ARTIS shares for shares in the MINT INCOME FUND. Any thoughts on why would this be a good deal?

Q: Hi guys. I've been looking at Equitable Group (ETC). 2014 estimated earnings is $6.07 giving it a forward p/e of 6.09. 2013 estimated earnings is $5.49 giving it a p/e of 6.75.

Any idea what the historical p/e norm is for companies like ETC? Seems dirt cheap but with a div of less than 2% I'm guessing it can remain dirt cheap for long periods of time.

Q: Medicago (MDG), a Canadian biotech company developing human vaccines using plant-like virus particles, has just shot forward ~20% (to $1.15) on news that Mitsubishi and Philip Morris will buy 54% of the company for ~$175 million, closing this Fall. I wonder if it is wise to sell now or stay with it hoping for even better returns in the years ahead. Indeed, I wonder if I will have a choice - I assume I will not have to tender since only 54% is being sold. Will they issue additional shares if not enough present owners tender?
I do not know if this kind of company is outside your interests, but I would certainly appreciate your comments.
Thanks for your great service, Bob.

Q: Wanting to take advantage, with the long-term in mind, of the beat-down in emerging markets, what ETFs or Mutual Funds do you recommend? Also, if I wanted to buy a single company with good dividend that has very strong EM exposure, would Unilever be on your short list?

Thanks-
