Q: Hello Peter
I have a policy that no individual security should exceed 5% of the value of my total portfolio. Normally when a stock reaches 5.5% I trim it back to 5% and invest the proceeds in the fixed income portion of my portfolio to maintain a 30% fixed income, 70% equity allocation. Over the past couple of years I have needed to trim shares of TD, RY, BNS, BCE, T, TRP and CU as they have all exceeded the 5% threshold. These stocks are held in an open account, so capital gain taxes must be paid on the dispositions. I know that the value of my portfolio would currently be higher if I did not follow this policy. Is this policy flawed? Should I just let the winners run?
Thanks David

Q: Why does BDI remind you a little bit of Badger? I thought one of Badger's strengths was its propritary technology which I don't believe BDI has. If memory serves me correctly once you said that Badger's clients were utilities who weren't so much concerned about costs as reliability and response time. Does this hold true for BDI and are they as good as Badger? (Are their clients utilities too?)
Thanks

Q: hi 5i, my question has to do with CZN - Canadian Zinc but at the same time insider trading. according to INK, on Mar 24 the CEO J F Kearney did some fairly sizeable insider trading. can you explain what transpired yesterday. and also how should a current shareholder view this type of action as it pertains to investing in general. also maybe in the future devote a section of your services on how to read insider trading. thanx norm

Q: Your model portfolio in small print, for example, auto Canada p&l for 2014 -4.1. I was surprised to see that it was in a minus category since it was the best stock in the TSX. Is there a difference between a March 1st list February PDF and a March 1st 2014 Excel with no list? It has nice big print, and is easier to read. Maybe I am missing something. Please advise.

Q: further question on Solium (SUM)

I have been watching SUM closely and recall back in mid Feb that the 5i team felt a good entry point for SUM would be around $6.75. Yesterday it closed @ $6.81 after the recent news regarding the CEO selling a chunk of his shares. Today it is almost back up to $7.

Should we consider this as an opportunity to buy?

Or would you recommend sitting tight for a bit to see what happens next?

Thank You

Q: Hello Peter, thank you kindly for your great advice to date. I would like your input on my TFSA portfolio. I am holding 6 issues, roughly 16 to 17% weight for each as follows:
ZHY, ZDV, OXF.A, LXF, IPL, and XRE. My goal was to create income but with a preference for long term growth. Am I on the right track? Please suggest any alternatives. Thanks very much!

Q: Hello Peter...I'm interested in learning/improving about entering and exiting holds of stocks. And came across books by Alexander Elder....showing up on Amazon and at the local library. At first glance, the basics are easy to understand, and provide good building blocks. For me, I'll need to show more patience.

Thought I'd mention this resource reference for others.....Tom

Q: Dear Peter and fellow 5I team members, I, for one, appreciate your gentle and courteous responses to members who in the opinion of some ask too simple questions too often. We are the very people who need your conflict free investor oriented advice; I would be unhappy if you felt the need to separate out the beginners you are currently educating to a "forum" with its own agenda.
Thank you, again for your unique and valuable service.

Q: K-Bro (KBL) reports about May 5th and I have $0.33 in earnings estimates from 3 analysts, down from $0.39 last year, revenue flat. However TD Securities seems to think Free Cash Flow is a more important indicator and has it going from $2.61 in 2013 to $3.51 in 2015 with potential for a dividend increase. Their analysts toured the new facility in Edmonton and were most impressed so raised their target on the stock at the same time calling it a "Breakout Milestone". I see it is a small cap and wonder who the major stockholders are, should there be a takeover, and do you agree with the numbers? I am a content holder from a lot lower and have averaged up since. Also is there an updated 5i report coming? I see the last one was Dec. 2012. Thanks, J.
