Q: Bellatrix (BXE). I am down 18% on this company. I know they did a bought deal at $9.50 and that it was reduced. Is it more volatile because it does not pay a dividend and shorts don't have to cover the dividend? Should I continue to hold or buy more or wait. It is dragging down the rest of my portfolio.
Q: Hi Peter& Team, thanks for all your help to date. I am starting TFSA and RESP account for my kids and looking for some growth stock advice. One of kid has 5 yrs timeframe while my son has 10 yrs timeframe. Thank You.
Q: Kelso KLS-X seems to be delisted. I cannot seem to find out why this has happened and how it will affect me , as I have some stocks in this security.

Q: Bankers Petroleum (BNK)had a sudden price drop today, followed by a rebound. The volume of shares being traded is six times than the average normal. There was a trading halt today, followed by resumption. The company is having an investor day conference in Toronto, followed by another one in London. The company seems to be doing all the right things. The stock is up 70% from the time I bought it. Should I hold or sell it here.

Q: I am looking at 5 stocks with the objective of buying 2 or 3 of them in my TFSA (which is doing well thanks to you). The 5 are SPB, SGY, TOU, RRX and IPL. Only SGY and IPL have net buy insider trading. TOU and RRX have large net selling.
How important are these insider trading numbers and can you recommend 2 or 3 of these?

Q: Hi peter
If you had to pick one of CP, CNR, and ALC common shares, which would you pick any why.
Also I own some ALC.DB convertibles so should I hold to get the 6% yield and wait till 2018 to convert or do it sooner?
Thank you....... Paul

Q: In Wilan’s (WIN) recent annual circular, there is a proposal to “reduce the stated capital account of the common shares in the capital of the Corporation by $120 million”. Is this the same as a share buyback? Can you explain in simple terms what this is and why a corporation does this? (I understand share buybacks, but how is this different?)
Q: YO - Is Yoho Resources a buy here? Seems it could be a diamond in the rough, especially with most other O&G names at 52 week highs, if their Duvernay projects work out. Thanks, Brad
Q: Thinking of tax loss selling GPS,HGN,andSFD in the next week or two.Do you forsee any positives in any of these firms to warrant delaying this action till the fall? Thanks for your insight.
Q: Hi Peter, Boyd Group Income (BYD.un)stock has been on a tear, recently, with several acquisition news. Yield has dropped to 1.06%. In your view, is there further upside and is it worth to keep adding at $45 for growth? Thanks
Q: Hello Peter :
As a retiree with hopefully 20 years to live I am looking for an additional safe secure stock capable of weathering a market crash and with a good growing dividend and enough expected capital gain to offset inflation.
I am currently looking at stocks in the 5% yield range and am focusing on BMO Equal weight REIT Index ETF [ZRE] which you have in your Model Income Portfolio and must like a lot, and on Bell Canada [BCE]. Both have about a 5% dividend. BCE has a P/E of 19.3 but I cannot find a P/E for ZRE as such, but the P/Es of the 18 REITs in ZRE range from about 10 to about 20.
I already own BDT, BEP.UN, PKI, ENF, and BIP.UN, all near the 5% yield range.
Which of ZRE or BCE would you advise me to choose for income for a long hold and why, and do you have any other or better suggestions?
Thank you....... Paul

Q: As an avid market follower I value your comments on the market. Knowing that market timing is virtually impossible, what would your favorite indicator(s) be that we have reached the "euphoric" apex? Thanks for the great service! Ron
Q: Hi Peter - currently have AYA, CF, DHX, SGY and TCN in my TFSA account and doing pretty good - thanks - looking to add another $2000 - can you recommend a couple of names that would fit in with the mix - more on the growth side as this is for the long run. Excellent service and continue the great work.

Q: acq autocanada is still going up,up,and up.Any comments. Thanks.Jim
Q: Not a question, but a comment.
Greg asked about the "parking" of $2mill in a bond fund (Pender) for a short space of time and the fees being charged.
I am sure 5i do not want to advise this member to go to the full service firm management and complain about this purchase/advice for reasons of not wanting to get directly involved, but as a past senior management person in the Investment Industry I will say that this is what Greg should do.
This is client abuse, and precisely the type of thing that management at a reputable Investment Firm would not put up with and a complaint to them would ( I feel ) bring some corrective action.
( Following my management career I did some work acting for lawyers representing abused clients, so I have experience in this field.)
5i/Peter........understand if you do not want to post this comment on the site, but if not then maybe you can pass the advice on directly.....this sort of thing upsets me and the industry needs to clamp down on it.
