Q: CPD
I am very wary of adding Preferred Share index back into my portfolio as you have in the new Income Portfolio. I had a 5% weighting since 2013 and the yield for two years barely covered my capital loss. I have had the same experience with bond etf's. Is it not better for me to buy the individual corporate bonds from the discount brokerage and have reasonable assurance my capital is safe even if the yield is a little lower?
Q: Hello Peter and crew, I have been a member for just over a year and have to say my portfolio is up about 35% all thanks to you and your crew! I am 46 years old and will be retiring from my current career in 5 years. I will have a very good pension and will likely find something else to do. I am would say a bit aggressive in my investing. So here is my current holding all about equal in amount....except for aya which is currently 3X everything else...woohoo!!! I have placed a sell on 1/3 of my position. I hold BNP, SGY x2, TPH,AQN, CPX, CSH.UN, LRE, NPI, VSN, WCP, BEP.UN, CSE, PPL,RBI X1/4. I was going to add BNS with the sell of AYA.....do you have any suggestions, like a good replacement for BNP or others...I do like my dividends they have helped me grow with other purchases. But a good growth stock would be good too. Thanks Ed
Q: REITS: I just read your report on MRC and, despite a low yield %, the B+ rating makes it tempting. Would it make sense for me to switch out of one or more of the following in order to then add MRC to my portfolio? Other REITS currently held include: CWT.un, GRT, DI.un, AAR.un, AP.un and HR.un.
I've done well on RE this year. Share price appears to have flattened a little since 3rd week April. There was talk of a buy out maybe somewhere in the future.
Q: 5i team:
The wife and I both hold CGI Group (GIB.A) : ~ 20% each
in our TFSA's. We are each up ~ 17% from purchase.
Our approach for our TFSA's is to hold growth Co's.
CGI seems to be lagging lately. Would you recommend we :
1- continue to hold; 2- reduce the % held;
3- or take our profits and look for something to replace.
If 3, could you make a few suggestions.
Thanks,
we greatly appreciate your service.
Q: Now that the London silver fix is finished, how do you think that affects silver prices going forward? Some US newsletters see a rising silver market. Would Silver Wheaton (SLW) be a good way to play it ,or do you have some other ideas?
Thanks,
Philip
Q: I bought Aecon (ARE) about six months ago. After a very healthy gain it has come back down lately. Given that I had regretted not taking a larger position initially, this may be an opportunity to add to my position. Can I please get your views on ARE, assuming a 5 - 10 year horizon. Thank you!
Q: A recent headline pertaining to Shawcor stated that the company had filed a Final Short Form Shelf Prospectus for up to 500,000,000 in securities. Can you explain the headline and comment on the company in general?

Q: Descartes announced today an IPO of 9,500,000 shares is this intended for the purposes of a new acquisition or simply pay for their previously announced acquisition?
Q: Just wanted to thank Peter and 5i for your service and wanted to support your ride for kids with Cancer with some of the gains I've made from your recommendations. Went to your donation page and saw the details you posted about your serious training accident on Friday. Just wanted to give you my best and wish you a very speedy recovery.
Arcan (ARN.V) announced a strategic transaction to sell the company today. What do you think of the deal from the shareholder and convertible bondholders view. Do you think there will be additional offers (CPG & LTS each own ~ 19%). What do you think the 'SPINCO' warrants will trade at?
Thanks.
Q: I would like to ask if you could update your opinion (2012) on HNT, especially given they are undertaking a "strategic review". I would ask if you could include your opinions on the risk/benefits of investing in HNT vs their spin-off Family reit, as well as what outcomes you might foresee for this strategic review (another spin off?)
