Q: Since a number of fund managers on BNN have been advocating a significant US equity weighting, do you foresee adding at least some US equities to the model portfolio (or launching a new portfolio)?

Q: Hi.
I am very glad I subscribed to your newsletter and read the questions and your comprehensive responses faithfully on a pretty much daily basis.
My question is on silver. I would like to purchase a silver stock or etf that features a heavy silver presence. I only know of silver wheaton, but don't understand the concept involved with this stock. I understand it is not a mine, nor does it own bullion (at least I don't think it does). Many thanks for any recommendations.

Q: Hello 5i,
I am a holder of Augusta AZC and am almost back to my purchase price of $3.54 with the help of the offer by HudBay Minerals. Some of the larger shareholders are coming out to say they will not vote in favour of the offer. An article on the Globe this morning with regard to the offers made by HudBay for Augusta and Goldcorp for Osisko indicate that although the offers made are below fair value, (AZC estimated at $1 low per share) there are likely no other bidders that will come out of the woodwork to move the price higher. Do you see any more upside or would it be best to sell now. Thanks for the great work.

Q: In response to a question on Stantec yesterday, you said:
"We still think it is one of the better (top 20) investments in Canada."
What other stocks would you place in that category?

Q: Good Morning 5i,
Can you give me your thoughts on what you think gold and silver will do this year? If positive would an etf such as gld be better than a mining stock? Would slw be good for silver?
Thank you

Q: Re: RBI (former CLQ-T)
RBI continue to drop sharply after share consolidation. I'm very bullish on Lithium demand. Do you think this is a buying opportunity?
Thanks for your great service!

Q: I was looking at your model portfolio. many of those stocks have had a good run. how do I know what a good entry point is on any of them if I were to begin purchasing today? of those stocks listed, which would I consider buying today?
Q: I recently inherited some of my mother's portfolio, and included are some equities I do not even recognise, let alone know anything about. Her portfolio was professionally managed, so I don't want to be too quick to get rid of things. I would like to get an opinion on the quality and outlook of:
FAP - Aberdeen Asia-Pacific
UTC.C - Utility Corp
FCS.UN - Faircourt Split Trust
RIT.UN - First Asset Canadian REIT

Q: I am a new member and familiar with Peter through Sprot Growth. I hold SUM and TFI. They seem to be poor performers. I have not read a lot of negative reports about them. What do you think?
Q: I am wondering about the role of beta in the portfolio stocks. According to my broker's site the beta's for these stocks are: AYA .40, ESL .82, BNS .96. When I overlay the one year charts with the TSX, as expected BNS tracks it closely. ESL and AYA show much better performance with AYA showing a little more volatility. Why would ESL be more similar to BNS?
