Q: Sincere thanks for posting the market update yesterday. You didn't have to do that but it was very much appreciated. One comment you made I did not understand. "Now is not the time to be a here". Many thanks.

Q: My daughter is investing about $1500/month into an FHSA until the yearly $8000 max contribution is reached and will repeat this process for the next four years until the plan max of $40,000 is reached. What suggestions would you have in order maximize growth of the contributions given the relatively small $40k amount and short timeline (15 years from plan opening but only 10 years after the full $40k has been contributed) involved? Many thanks.

Q: Dear 5i team.

I took a small position in TOU a few weeks ago for the income, and possible capital appreciation. It's gone south consistently for the past few weeks, so my capiatal loss far exceeds any income thus far. I know my timing has not been great, but is this the beginning of a down cycle, or do you think the propects of a bounce at some point is in the cards.
I'd like to hold this for a few years, but stumbling out of the blocks has me questioning my decision.

Thanks for your help.

Q: For reporting exchange rates re capital gains on the sale of US securities that are kept in USD rather than being converted to CAD after the sale, is there a particular site you can recommend - such as the Bank of Canada daily exchange rates? If so, would the noon-hour or closing rate be used and is it the trade or settlement date that should be used for reporting? Or, is the retail exchange rate charged by the brokerage more appropriate? I find it can be difficult to find historical exchange rates on the websites of many financial institutions. Thanks.

Q: 2 questions:
In a taxable account what would you suggest to play the role of Bonds if any? I need to beef up my bonds allocation and need to keep cash and cash equivalent in my taxable account where I have new funds.

For a young retiree with a comfortable portfolio what percentage would you allocate to cash and bonds? Volatility is not a problem for me with a long term view.

Thank you
Yves

Q: Hi 5i team
With the recent downturn in the stock market, being a relatively new investor, how long would you expect stock to drop or do you believe have we already reached close to the bottom? And what are your thoughts on tech companies such as Nvidia and Microsoft going forward (what would you consider a good buying point to look for)?
Thanks!
