Q: Hi Peter & Co.,

You gave me a fairly bearish response to a question I had on Bombardier last year, resulting in me selling half of my position. Thanks for that, obviously I regret not selling the entire thing. They have just announced layoffs, and Canaccord Genuity has stated “We are concerned that continued cash outflows from the program could put pressure on the company’s liquidity position, possibly resulting in a dilutive equity issue,” which of course has been one of your biggest criticisms for BBD.B. Is it time for me to right my wrong and dump the remaining half position, or is most of the bad news already baked in to current price, and just continue to hold (as part of an otherwise fairly good mix of industrials)?

Thanks Team.

Q: Hi 5i,

Given the recent run in ALX, would you recommend taking profits at current levels or holding on for the long term?

What would you do if you were sitting on a 30% gain in just a few days with respect to upcoming rights offering?

Would you tend to hold for those shares, or sell prior to record date? How would you calculate the drop in value from the rights offering post the record date? I see a drop of at least the percentage of dilution on the non PP stock out there in the market(around 8-9%?).

Thoughts?

Q: Hi 5I,
What are your thoughts on having "stop loss" parameters on our holdings. There has been a lot of chatter lately about this. We have a lot of gains on some of our holdings especially the growth part of our portfolio[ thanks to 5I] , and even our large caps , and TD e funds, are doing well. We've never used stop loss before . We're not sure how to do it . We monitor our holdings daily [except when we're away on vacation] and we're thinking of putting the parameter on a 10 or 20 % drop. Some fund managers admit that they have been stopped out and the holding continued to climb.
thanks for your insight
