Q: Can you please provide thoughts on ATH Athabasca oil? I purchased the stock earlier this year taking advantage of the dips in prices of oil stocks that seemed unjustified at the time.

I initiated this particlar name at 0.6% of the portfolio and it's now grown to be 1.2% of the portfolio. I have other oil and gas stocks TOU, ARX, CGE, and TVE. I'm not in a rush to sell ATH and the chart looks like it pretty much has free-air above it to go a lot higher... very little by way of chart resistance.

How do you look at the company given current circumstances? Add to it? Hold it? Trim it to not give away winnings?

Thanks!

Q: Hello 5i, I'm looking to strengthen my portfolio and currently own these stocks and others in the consumer stapes category. Is there value in owning all these listed or should i consolidate into a couple. Also how would you rank these on strength of company and the dividend.
Many thanks.

Q: Dear 5i,
Many experts are suggesting that Bonds are very attractive right now because of the high yields.
Can you please suggest some Canadian bond ETF's and Mutual Funds that one might want to do further research on. In your opinion what duration range represents a sweet spot that might offer attractive total return within 3 years.

Q: Dear Peter and team,

Thank you for answering my question earlier about non-correlated assets. Very clear and helpful. For Private equity you had chosen BX as an option (also VXX) and every subscriber knows how much you like BN/BAM :) (I must say that I am tickled by the number of folks in both print and TV media, not just you, are enamored with Mr. Bruce Flatt. A true Bromance!!)

My question is how come not many mention anything about similar European Private equities firms which are publicly traded. Google search yielded CVC capital, EQT, Ardian, Apax...

Which PE firm from the EU would you consider as a reasonable complement for BX/BLK/BAM . Feel free to add any other PE firm that you think has potential.
Many thanks in advance.

Q: I became an EQB customer just to experience their service and I am very impressed how the whole process works without any human involvement (this means big cost savings on their part) and the unmatched benefits of keeping your cash savings there over the legacy banks. If this is the future, the big banks have a problem of large workforce and the real estate footprint to be maintained. From my point of view it is easier to enter the market from EQB starting point than from the big banks position to slim down. However there is a limit to which EQB can grow that way. Would you be able to asses this limit in terms of EQB market cap?
There are/were smaller/regional banks that entered Canadian banking in the past. How would you rate EQB in this group?

Regards,
JR

Q: I received the latest dividend for WDS-N and it was $0.78 US$ in my RRSP account however the declared dividend by the company was $0.80 US$. Is there any explanation for this? Also in my brokerage account under Income details it stated that the dividend for September 28th was $0.80 US$ per share.

Thanks in advance.

Q: We are dividend investors in our late 70’s. We derive most of our income from dividends. Recently we sold about 200,000. Worth of Enbridge and are looking to reinvest. We have short listed some companies above and would like your opinion on them. Also if you have any other suggestions we would welcome your ideas. We are looking for solid companies with a good dividend that also increase their dividends.
