Q: What are your thoughts on this fund?
Long term performance and yield are both very strong, in excess of 9%. No covered calls but does have some leverage. Not sure how they achieve 9%+ yield without covered calls but the yield seems consistent and large portion of distribution is capital gains, eligible dividends and ROC.
Never invested in a closed end fund before. What is the difference between this and an ETF?

Q: Good Evening 5i Crew,
I bought 100 shares of Nvidia about 18 months ago and I am up 95%. I strongly believe in the capabilities of this company and the part it will play in technology over the next 5-10 years. However the noise around valuation is getting pretty loud. Do you suggest selling 50% (getting my original investment out) of the shares and play with the house money? I have a 5-10 year horizon
With thanks for your opinion

Q: I read in the Vancouver Sun that the municipalities in the US have a lot of control over the rate at which energy utilities convert to climate friendly energy sources. A UBC climate change expert weighed in to nudge the Vancouver municipal council who are meeting this week on the subject to stick to their acceleration plan for Fortis (+ maybe others) to adhere to it. Do you have any facts or insight on investor sentiment over the short to medium term?

Q: Npk is going to sell carbon credits on its 300000 tons of production at $500 US per ton. The first sale is to go through by the end of 3rd qtr. The markets seem to like this & the stock is up this AM. Do you think this has potential for the shares? Comments please.
In Npk's last conference call was there any mention of them fixing the flooding of the road to their mine that was preventing them from delivering product?
Thanks
Fergie

Q: I have held T for years and have been content with its solid dividend, stability and some growth. Clearly not happy with current events. I am still up 18% in a non-registered account. Would you be inclined to hold the course and hope for a turn around in the next several quarters? Or do you believe - even after interest rates peak - that the combination of growing competition and onerous government regulation mean the telco will continue to struggle? If the latter, can you recommend a replacement? I'm wrestling with this as I want a dividend >4%, a bit of growth and low volatility, but am overweight in Utilities and Finance, where I would be most likely to get this. What do you think of binning T and shifting the funds to Energy (ENB?) or Real Estate (DIR.UN?)? Alternatively, is there another Communications stock you might recommend (Canada or US) that fit my criteria? Thank you.

Q: Good Morning,

Retired income investor. Large position in BN with very low yield but growth potential.. Wondering if you thought it would be a good move to sell BN and buy BIPC, BEPC and BAM or any other suggestions. Have some of each already. Don’t need the money but this would improve cash flow which could be used to purchase more equities.

Q: Hi, I would appreciate your thoughts regarding Nexus Industrial REIT. It's my understanding that this REIT has effectively transitioned from a mixed properties REIT to a more purely industrial REIT, in recent years. Can you confirm if that is your belief as well? In reviewing the firm's dividend history, it looks to me as though they may have increased their monthly dividend by 300% in Feb/Mar of 2021, from a payment of $0.01333 to $0.05333. Is that correct? Does the REIT generate sufficient cash flow to cover its current dividend and are you please able to provide your opinion about how "secure" the current dividend might be, going forward? Lastly, do you have any information regarding the REIT's current debt and how much of that debt may be of a variable rate and/or due to mature and need to be refinanced over the next year or two? I'd be personally worried about the sustainability of the dividend if a large amount of very low interest debt were to need to be refinanced at what I'm hoping are temporarily much higher rates of interest. It' my opinion that interest rates might be half of what they are today, within two years time from now. Thank you!

Q: Good day 5i,

I currently hold positions in 5 semi-conductor companies: Nvidia, ASML, AMD, Taiwan Semi and Axcelis. I'd like to concentrate the positions in order to make the remaining positions more meaningful. However, I like all of these companies and feel they all have great growth ahead. If you were to concentrate this group, which would you sell? With those funds, in what order would you add to the others? Or would you keep all of them?

Growth-oriented investor, comfortable with volatility.

Thank you for your insights,

Q: Hello 5i,

We currently have 1% positions in AXON, CROX, LNTH, TGLS, and INMD. All are up 5%-60% currently. We are considering adding 1% positions in WIRE, BOOT, AMCR & 2% in IJH.
We are in the 63-65 age range and do not required the funds for 5-10 years. Do you have any concerns or comments on this strategy?
Thank you for your help.

Q: After many years of holding a full position in Laurentian Bank, I am just now breaking even if I sell at the current price. But with BNS and TD not interested in acquiring LB and the other major banks tied up in their own acquisitions, who does that leave as a potential buyer? Is it too risky to hold onto my shares lest the price plummets if there is no sale?
