Q: Do you think SNC is good value here? Or should one wait for the oil price to settle. If not a buy today, then what would you like to see happen to make it a buy?

Q: Hi 5i team,
Avigilons results looked good. I'm still down but will continue to hold.
The globe and mail out an article referencing a report from Veritas. Any comments on that? And specifically about Avigilon stating the CFO left prior to the last earnings report due to health reasons but was then working at another company within 3 weeks?
I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt but is there something potentially not right with management?
Q: Wonderful site.
I am still confused. If I buy the shares today or tomorrow will I still get the split shares and if so based on what price?
I see that the stock has gone down today
Thanks
I currently have the following energy producers in the portfolio:
AEI 3.5%
PPY 3.9%
TOU 3.5%
PEY 4.3%
CPG 3.1%
With a total energy producer weighting of 18.3% I am wondering if I should trade my CPG shares for something like Black Diamond group. The dividend is lower on Black Diamond but I think the quality of company is better and I think they treat shareholders better. What are your thoughts on a best choice for recovery from current prices and good dividends? As a side note, I hold BAD (4.9%) as well in case it matters in terms of sector exposure.

Q: "Stantec declared a two-for-one share split with payment date of November 14, 2014, to shareholders of record as of the close of business on October 31, 2014." I understand this should not be material in nature, still I am confused. Suppose I buy the shares in between, which I am actually planning to do, I am paying the price before splitting. But since the obtaining of the shares happened after October 31, 2014, my share count would not double according to the statement, which should not be true. Please explain.
Also please comment on the quarterly results. Is it a buy today?

Q: Good Morning All,
This is not an investment question, but I'm hoping you can shed some light. Huntingdon Capital Corp has been sold to Slate recently & I have been viewing news releases for Slate (on TD Waterhouse site & SEDAR) stating that they have purchased 100% of the outstanding shares of HNT at $13.25 and that the shares are expected to be delisted from the TSX on NOV7, 2014. I have over 1000 shares of HNT in a TD Self Directed RRSP. I have received no notification from either TD or HNT to tender my shares. The HNT website is down, TD can't give me an answer and I can't get in touch with investor relations at Slate. I'm becoming very concerned.
Please comment on what is the protocol in this situation; in the past I have had the brokerage call me for instructions in these situations.
Thanks in Advance,
Tom Brandsma
Considering all the legal issues surrounding TRN, I'm getting nervous. As a recent purchase, I'm down 3%. Should I hold or do you have a better industrial alternative?
Q: I was hoping to have your view on some of the smaller names in the energy space. SPE-Spartan, ELK-Elkwater, POE-Pan Orient.. I have read your previous comments on ELK. You are supportive of management however it seems the recent deals are not investor friendly. I noticed that the past announced deal has driven significant decrease in per share value. Could I have your thoughts please for these going forward. Thank you Jason
