Q: Hi Team
I sold my position in Web Tech wireless when approval was given for a share consolidation of 1 for 5.Consolidations from my experience are usually negative for the share price. The company looks decent enough at this price,i believe they are cash flow positive and also have around 23 million in cash.My thinking is that i should be able to re-purchase shares after they drift down for a year or so after the consolidation. Can i have your comments please.
Thanks Gordon

Q: Entrec ent is being added to the tsx and removed from the venture. I would think this is positive news. I like the space they are in. Own 1000 shares and looking to add to my position. Would you buy it? Thanks for Amaya. Sold half my position today at $20, letting the rest ride for free! Cannot get too greedy. Thank you thank you.

Q: In Avigilon’s (AVO) recent annual meeting circular, they are proposing an amendment to the corporation’s by-laws which would indemnify the Directors and officers in the event of any criminal or civil proceedings against them. Normally I wouldn’t give this a second thought, but in consideration of the recent abrupt (and mysterious) departure of the CFO it causes me concern. I am far from a conspiracy theorist, but it leaves the impression that something shady might be going on, hence the CFO departure the day before the release of quarterly results, and now a move to better insulate the officers from any liability. I’ve read all the Q and A as well as the AVO report that you just updated and it is clear that the recent CFO departure doesn’t seem to concern you, but what if anything do you read into the company’s move (and the timing of it) to amend their by-laws to better protect the Officers?

Q: LVH - Las Vegas From Home. I have held this stock for years and am still deep in the ditch. However if I bought it earlier this year I would be up nicely. Timing really is a roll of the dice.

However, given the recent news for AYA, would this make LVH as good opportunity buy right now?

Thanks for your help and guidance.

Q: Hi,

Happily , for the moment I have positions in AYA, ACQ, & CSU
spread over 4 accts(cash, RLIF, RRSP, TFSA). They currently
represent abut 17.5 % of the total of the 4 investment accounts
of my overall portfolio. ACQ 8.4 % AYA 6.3% CSU 2.25%

My main concern is that all 3 investments are similar in nature as they are all "rollups" .

Do I have to worry about having a significant portion of my portfolio in this type of investment ?

I know that I need to worry about individual positions exceeding
10 %

MY second question is about a trimming strategy I try to use.
I have been selling 25% of an investment the first time it doubles and 25% each time it increase by 100% of the original investment. Is this a reasonable thing to do ?

I am considering taking only 25% of my profit instead on subsequent increases of 100%. and taking as much as necessary
to stay under 10 %.

I would appreciate your comments on this situation.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.

Q: Hello 5i team, I have a small position in BRP ( Brookfield Residential Properties) with a 37% capital gain in a registered account. The shares have trended down in the last 6 months. Should I be patient and hold or look for a replacement. If I were to sell what would you suggest I replace it with? Thanks as allways.

Q: This is a follow-up to the question asked by Mike as to when to sell a stock.

How does paying attention to the five parameters mentioned apply to commodities? I am thinking specifically about oil, which is rising in price primarily (it seems) to unrest in Iraq. If, and when, that situation is resolved or at least quieted, should we expect the price of oil to decline? If so, does one look at trimming holdings in oil companies now as the price rises and portfolios unbalance or should we as investors wait and not adhere as strongly as we might normally do to portfolio weightings?

Thanks for the in-sight.

Q: Hello Peter & Co.
I'm thinking of adding some exposure to the energy field services sector. Hesitating between CEU and HWO. The latter seems to be at a good entry point after its recent drop.
Thanks
