Not investment advice or solicitation to buy/sell securities. Do your own due diligence and/or consult an advisor.

Q: I have set up my wife's RRSP account after the model portfolio. Since the start of April the portfolio is down about 3%. When you get Dividends etc. should we wait until we get a larger amount before we buy. Also should we buy the stock that is losing the most or buy the one that is gaining the most.

Thanks for your advice.

John

Q: WIN announced pretty good earnings this AM in addition to some good announcements in the quarter and a change to the legal expense risk sharing model. At this price seems to be good value even if they don't sell the company in the short term. Thoughts?

Q: Hello 5i
I am trying to re-balance my 25 stocks in a combined portfolio, at 4% for each position. I have not included ETFs. Should ETFs, such as XIU and XIC, be included in the number of positions, or treated separately? For instance, I hold BNS and TD as part of the stock portfolio, but they are also included in the ETFs. Your advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Q: I have a question about diversification. My understanding is you should not have more than 20% of your stocks in any one sector. Right now I own HWO, POU, BXE, WCP, TOG, RMP, RE, RRX, TOU in the oil and gas sector, with a portfolio weighting of 13.5%. However, if I include BAD, ENB and BDI that takes my weighting to 28%. Would you include the last three in the oil and gas sector even though they're not producers?

Q: Hello 5i,
With the recent strong performance of oil & gas sector stocks, do you feel there are now fair or overvalued and to be avoided until a correction takes place or was this move an overdue correction bringing the Canadian energy sector back in line to where they should have been trading?

Q: Hi there
With the recent pullback in BX (Blackstone Group) do you think this is a good entry point for a long term hold. I am looking at getting some dividend yield (I realize this could be cut at anytime) and some growth. Also as a US holding would the dividends/capital gains etc. escape the typical withholding amounts, or does the structure of BX differ from a typical US company.

Much thanks
Stuart

Q: Hi Peter,

I have had several bank preferred shares redeemed recently and I'm looking to replace them for the dividend income. Can you make a suggestion of at least 4 preferred's that would be suitable replacements?

Thanks,
Dave

Q: I have some shares in Badger Daylight (BAD) for the last couple of weeks the stock has been going down from 70 cents to $1.30 per day. I cannot find any reason for this decline can you please investigate and find out why this happening. When companies are doing well they put out lots of info but when they are declining they fail to give you any info why. Thank You. Bob

Q: STN - Stantec

5i April 11 comment mentioned "trading a bit unusual" on "relatively low volume.

Today STN dropped down to it's lowest point of the year again on very low volume and during a period when markets in general are fairly positive.

It's been a steady performer since mid 2012. Anything new that could account for the weakness thus far this year?

thanks for all you do

Gord
