Q: CYNO (NASDQ): sells very high P.E., low ROE-however PEG ratio is compelling-recent Q2 results very good, bought company recently to improve prod. offering and gain good technology. TR has a "strong buy" on this stock. What do you think?

Q: Bell Aliant
Provided I can purchase Bell Aliant at $31.00 per share or less, does it make sense to buy BA when BCE is trading greater than $48.66.
Essentially I would be buying BCE at a discount to the trading price (on august 05 BCE was $49). I have ignored commission on the trade, but its pretty minor at $10 per trade.

Q: I hate to be an ambulance chaser, but is the Mount Polley tailings pond breach an opportunity to pick up some more shares of Imperial Metals? With the Red Chris mine soon to be on-line, it seems like this might be a good time to add some shares.

Feeling guilty asking...thkxs.

Q: Hello Peter and Staff
I own some BADger, and it is disconcerting to see it drop on a daily basis, with heavy selling volume. I am concerned that my purchase was made when growth mode changed to a Stop mode. One does wonder about underlying rumours etc. If I were to sell, it would not be pretty, if I hold, would it be reasonable to expect recovery in the short to medium term or is one looking way down the road. Thanks as always for your learned advice.

Q: Hi Team,

Back in the spring, you suggested the following stocks for RESP accounts:
13 year old going to grade 9: Stantec, Badger, Boyd, Linamar, Enghouse, Stella Jones, Sun Life, Black Diamond, Cineplex.

7 yr old all of the above would still be suitable, but more aggressive names would be DHX Media, Surge Energy, Teck Resources, Home Capital, Tricon, Element Financial, Amaya and Sylogist.

Questions:
1 - Would you still recommend the listed names at current prices
2 - Could you suggests an alternate name for Amaya (non-gambling stock)? QST?

Thanks for your help.

Q: Peter,
Catching up on my 5i questions and answers, I noticed that both Bill & Gord commented favourably on your dislike of target prices. It reminded me that Ross Healey was a guest on BNN last week. When asked by a caller about Badger(Bad) dropping in price, he stated it was over-priced and predicted it would drop to $18 to $20. Would you care to comment on that or is it a good example of being beware of target prices?

Q: Many of the large US banks are trading substantially below NAV. What do you think of their prospects for significant capital appreciation? Would ZBK be a good way play this prospect, or are there other ways you would prefer?

Thanks,

Glen

Q: Could you please give your opinion on Second Cup (SCU). Today they cut their dividend and announced that they will invest in re-inventing their stores. Given the large sell-off this morning, do you think it's a good entry point for this stock, or would you stay away?

Thanks

Q: Peter; There is a very interesting article in todays Globe , pge.B8, by John Reese , on market
corrections. It really paraphrases 5i's mantra very well.

Q: Hello 5i Research team !
I have Chevron (CVX.US), 30% up so far, and been collecting dividends. Looking at last question on October 2013 "CVX is a good, cheap growing company with a nice (and growing)dividend". What is your opinion today ?
Thank you !

Q: Good morning! I am about to have 350K proceeds from the sale of a house, and wish to “park” it for probably 1 to 2 years. I would hope to be able to comfortably invest it into one or more equities paying a 4% dividend or more, and would appreciate the “ safest” names you might recommend (i.e low beta, not much downside risk). I am also looking at preferreds and would ask for a couple or more of names you might suggest, again with the payout of a minimum of 4%. My goal here is twofold – sustainable income and security. Growth is not a key element. Your comments and any alternative thoughts are appreciated!

Q: Hi, I would like to ask your opinion about the recent sell off of Cathedral Energy (CET). It seems like it is due to management changes announced on July 7th. Do you have any comment about the new CFO, Michael Hill? He was the COO of Mosaic Capital Corporation, and I made a quick glance at the stock (M). It seems to be doing very well.
