Q: I sold most of my mutual funds with the advent of ETFs but have held on to TD Asia Growth fund. Which ETF would have similar holdings to this mutual fund? Which ETFs do you recommend in this space?

Many thanks

Q: Hello 5i Team,
I have been buying a number of Brookfield companies on dips and now I am 11% invested with Brookfield:

BOX.UN - 1% non-reg
BPY.UN - 3% non-reg
BIP.UN - 5% non-reg
BPF.PR.E - 1% reg

I'm comfortable with these investments since I am looking at the longer term. If you think I should have a limit to my exposure with Brookfield alone and what might be a percentage?

Thanks,
Ronald

Q: Hi Peter and team,

Symbol: XIU

I have been a member since March and I have not asked questions before, because I found that reading your questions and answers gave me a lot of food for thoughts already. Thank you for an excellent service.

But now I do have a question, I would like to hold XIU as a core holding for the long term, and use your recommendations for extra growth potentials. But before I add more XIU, I would like to know what will happen if Blackrock goes into trouble? I know it is unlikely, but after so many crisis, I think anything is possible. Are our regulatory bodies making sure that XIU's underlying assets are totally segregated and safe? If that unlikely event happens, will shareholders of XIU able to access the stock still, or will its trading be stopped (for a while at least)? what will likely happen to the XIU's price?

Thanks!

Q: Peter; This is more of a info email re Yangerra. I was notified by my online broker, BMO InvestorLine,
that YGR is a non qualified investment for registered accounts, I.e. RRSP, RRIF erc. I sold mine
anyways after the share consolidation but apparently the CRA can impose large fines for non compliance.
I have no idea why it is not allowed etc.

Q: I am hoping you can give me some pointers on buying stocks and holding onto them. Before buying a stock should I watch it closely for a few days and then put in a limit order? Also, I have had stocks, everyone sells and they drop 15 to 20% - most of the time they seem to go back up - so if I sold and then wanted to buy it 30 days later it is usually back up to where it was before it fell. Should I be like everyone else and sell and move on or wait for it to come back. These are things that seem to happen. Thank you. Dennis

Q: ALA-TSX, AltaGas has been a favourite holding of mine since it was an income trust. I see it as being a well run, ever growing utility and energy company with a consistently growing dividend with a bright future. It is a diversified company.

I see it as similar to a young Enbridge Gas of years gone by, for example. I DRIP it and have traded it also occasionally.

I actually like it better than Fortis (FTS), TransCanada (TRP) & Emera (EMA). I also DRIP ENB, TRP & FTS.

Any thoughts or concerns that you would like to highlight for would be appreciated.

Thanx in advance.

Q: I am curious what youthink of the Q1 results just reported for MOB. I like the very accretive pipeline, the growth in affo/unit and the fact the ceo owns 80% of the shares - so he is clearly aligned. I was concerned however that debt ratio is up around 63% and POR grew to 101%. What do you think?

Q: hello 5i team. from your previous feedback to other investors on xtr i gather 5i considers xtr to be a good compromise for income and well diversified. I held it for most of 2013 and my total income from it was 6130 dollars, however my return of capital was 27% of this at 1638 dollars. i got hooked on the payout for retirement income. any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Q: Hi, I just read the updated report on Wispak Ltd. In the report card section you've noted the debt/equity as being 0. Can you list the names of some other companies that have a debt/equity of 0? Are there others? Thank you.

Q: Hello Fivei Team

As a relatively new suscriber I have found the site very useful and a fresh perspective.
My question is a round real return bond funds. I have held the TD RR bond fund for several years. Last years talk of tapering and interest rate bump pulled them back pulled them back about 10%. YTD on the same fund is up 8.4% with little inflation although the ten year bond has come down since last year.
Can you explain the correlation here as I have always understood these RR's do well in more inflationary times.

Thanks
Jerry

Q: Hello 5i,
I have been keeping an eye on Brookfield Renewable Energy (BEP.Un) and thought it might be a good time to buy with a small drop today. You seem to like this better than, say Emera, and I was wondering whether you thought it would be worth selling Emera to buy BEP.UN? I notice that Brookfield seems to have much more growth and I imagine that is one of the big reasons you like it. It has a much higher P/E than Emera, though. I bought Emera for the stability and income. Do you think that Brookfield is as stable and secure as Emera and you would thus get the growth as a bonus?
thanks
