Not investment advice or solicitation to buy/sell securities. Do your own due diligence and/or consult an advisor.

Q: Hi Peter and Team
I'm currently preparing for your portfolio review and nearing retirement. My concern is that my advisor has done little to diversify and several funds in my RRSP have high Mer. The portion in segregated funds is over 3%.
I would like to move everything to my TD self direct RRSP account but I don't understand the charges that may apply. Do you suggest I hire a new fee based advisor to assist or would TD look after the transfers. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks to the entire team for your service.

Will dividend be safe? Can I buy more for income?

Q: Hello 5i,
I am preparing for the new upcoming 5i portfolio and would like to find 25 US based stocks, as I like to diversify 50/50. A list of US names would be greatly appreciated, as many as you can comfortably give.
Many Thanks

Q: Hello,

I am working at cleaning up my portfolio. I sold my losers (SGY and ACQ) at big losses and am now trying to reduce my Canadian portion of my portfolio to 20 stocks. Currently 5 of the 20 are in the tech sector which is 25%. Do you think this is too high? I own the following 5 tech stocks:CSU, ESL, OTC, GIB.A and AVO.

I don't mind being a bit overweight in the sector as I think it will do well over the next few years. How many should I keep? If I were to drop one or two which would you suggest? CSU, ESL and GIB.A have been my best perfromers so I hate to sell them because I find the stocks that do well are generally the stocks that continue to do well. But I also think OTC and AVO have good prospects.

I look forward to your advice.

Carla

Q: Hi Peter and Team
With the current correction in acq this morning would this be a good time to enter into this stock with a half position. Have read your reply from yesterday, and looking for your thoughts.

Q: There seems to be significant anticipation regarding your higher risk portfolio due out soon. I am wondering if you will release it on a Friday after the close so all members have a fair chance to review it as I am positive that some, if not all, stocks will jump noticeably.
Would you be willing to tell us a ballpark number of subscribers that you now have so we can judge the influence of your recommendations considering your record, to date, has been stellar, with very few like Surge and most like almost all of the rest. Thanks.

Q: Can you please comment on PBH ?
Thinking that the dividend yield is attractive but the PE seems high and also the debt.
Are the converts in the money and do they count as equity or debt ?
Many thanks. I am looking for yield at a price but not a lot of risk.

Q: Peter and company,
Do you think CWB would be a good buy now that it is down considerably because of the drop in energy stocks, drop in employment in AB and the slow economy? I stated in a previous e-mail that I wanted to cut back on financial services sector but the price looks attractive. Besides I don't really think of the banks as financial services but rather more as sort of organised crime.

Q: I am looking to increase my exposure in my registered plan to the US market and in particular to the healthcare sector. I am retired and looking for income and some growth. I am considering Johnson and Johnson. Please provide your thoughts on this company and recommend alternatives if you believe there is a better choice.
Thank you for a great service.

Q: I hold a small position in Goldcorp (1.5%) and would like to increase my exposure to gold. Would it be best to add to G or start a new position in FNV. FNV seems to be the best long term performer just based on a quick chart comparision. Thank You Ron

Q: The company plans to split into separate companies. Would you buy the stock?
It looks like they are gaining traction. They have been trading in a very tight range.

Q: The company did cut its dividend since your last comment, but it's now over 12% again, due to the drop in price. TDW shows the majority of analysts giving ZAR a hold rating, but one analyst says Strong Buy. Also, the CEO, Hansen, has been buying shares in the last few days. Has your view of this changed recently? Would you buy it here?

Q: Hey Peter & Team

Really need your help. I read all your articles among many others, and recently read something that hit home when you spoke about portfolio management and to be willing to get out of losers. To be honest, I have yet to collapse a position in which I was not ahead.

I'm a little under water (13%) with XOM and as far as I can tell could remain there for some time - maybe a couple of years. It had a nice move yesterday but has given some back today.

I was thinking about exiting XOM and taking a position in Ford. Right now I have about 25% of my portfolio in US equities with positions distributed in;

APPL
WFC
DIS
CBI
TWX

as a whole this group has performed very well for me.

Do you think a position in Ford is wise at this time? Or would you recommend another sector/stock that might work better for me? Or would you recommend I just hang tough, collect the XOM dividend and patiently wait for the oil recovery? And finally, do you have an opinion on when you think Oil might return to $70 - $80.

Always appreciate everything you do

Gord
