Q: I have owned this closed end fund for years and have done well with it. It is about 4% of my portfolio. I'd like your opinion of it going forward especially with what has just happened to Aston Hill.

Q: I hold some conv debentures, all trading above par and yielding around 4.5%, all maturing in 3-5 years. Recognizing that I would give up any conversion advantages should a stock take off, what do you see as the pros and cons of selling all these and replacing with CVD with a higher yield and probably better liquidity (I would be buying about 3,500 shares). Does CVD move more with the bond market, or the stock market?
thank you

Q: Hello Peter,
Fairfax and Brookfield Asset management reported very good results on thursday feb 12th and 13th respectively. However, the stocks did not move much. Any comments? Do you feel valeant, constellation software, and cgi group still offer good value for increasing the positions. I currently have 3 percent weighting in each stock. Also, where would you suggest (web site) to look for anaysts estimates? i normally use globe and mail but do not find it useful at times. thanks very much

Q: Hi all. I am wondering if you have a suggestion where I can park cash waiting to be invested. I as a rule keep approximately 10% on hand however am not collecting much on it. Is there a reasonably stable spot where I can collect more than GIC rate and yet have it readily available? Maybe this is asking too much! Thanks in advance.

Q: I own CMI at much higher levels but to date I am fine continuing to hold with the comfort of their cash position until you report on the company again. It has been almost a year since your last report on this company. Can I assume a report will be out soon. Thank you for your reply.
As a side note I was hoping you would comment on TARO.US earnings in my last question as I thought they looked good but the stock continues to decline since they came out on the 10th.

Q: I know you focus on Canadian stocks but alot of BNN guests are suggesting that it might be the time to look at European stocks. Do you have any opinion on DB that looks to be moving off its low.

Q: Good morning,

Can you give me your update on Canso Credit for holding in an RRSP.

The stock has been performing well for quite some time (flying under the radar screens). It appears to have a very low valuation with a decent yield.

What are the prospects for continue growth?
How safe is the yield? What is the payout ratio?

Would you reccommend purchase at this level?

Thanks
Thomas

Q: I need some agriculture in my portfolio and recently added a small position in Tyson Foods. The etf, MOO.us looks interesting to me as it has the companies I would like to own like Mosaic, POT and Agrium. Is this a good one to own? Is there a similar Canadian ETF which is not strictly Canadian.

Q: I would appreciate some guidance in raising my fixed income from five to fifteen percent. I am looking at HYB.US which pays a healthy 8.5%. How safe is this and could you rank the following in terms of dividend and then share price appreciation safety, as well - XTR (5.8%), XHY (6.02%), XSB (2.56%), XHB (4.54%)and CB0 (4.5%).
My primary motive is to transition from too much cash to a capital-protected group.
Thank you.

Q: I own XLK and PSCT for exposure to us tech stocks. Are there any etfs for small cap and large cap Canadian stocks. My experience with individual Canadian small caps has not been great. I own sio and Vxs. They both are down.
Thanks

Q: I have a small position in celestica and with hitting a new high on Friday I am thinking of adding to a 3 percent position. Cisco earnings were good and that should help lift celestica stock. Also would you consider it a good takeover candidate in the future for a bigger US tech company?

Q: Hi Team,

I know you're not keen on IPOs (nor am I). I was just wondering what you think about the potential of Cara Operations going forward with a public listing. It seems like it has a lot of recognizable brands and could be interesting in future. Do you have any advice on how to track this and what to look for as a potential entry point?

Thank you. Michael

Q: I am currently working on ensuring that my portfolio is balanced in terms of asset allocation. This exercise is revealing to me that I have no coverage in healthcare and seniors' services. When I look at the companies you've rated I don't see any in this sector that have a 5i rating of B- or better. Are there any?

Q: My only REIT - AP.UN - seems to have gone into hibernation, from being the top performing REIT for the past few years (highest combined return) to seemingly losing all momentum.

I am looking at flipping it for HR.UN that has a larger market cap $6.7 billion vs. $3.0 billion, higher yield 5.6% vs. 3.8% and more positive overall TA numbers for the short and long term prospects.

Do you endorse this switch?

Thanks.
