Q: I was just wondering if I should sell ATZ at a loss in TFSA and re-buy in RESP. Would transfer In Kind work better? Would the Average Cost in RESP be the same as in TFSA if shares were transferred In Kind?

Q: Retired DIY investor. I find that I’m overweight in Tech stocks having AMZN, AAPL, GOOG, and MSFT and on the Cdn side CSU and SHOP. Meanwhile I have no healthcare stocks. I’m considering selling Apple and rotating into ABBV, MDT, or ZBH.
Could I have your opinion on this move? Many thanks.

Q: I'm looking to invest $60,000 for a minimum of 5 years. This money will be used towards a downpayment for a house. Can you please comment on a split of 50% SPY and 50% quality stocks, such as GOOG, MSFT, SLF, ATD, BN. Also can you please suggest some additional stock ideas that are fairly conservative for a 5 year hold. Thanks!

Q: Hello 5i
I must have missed some changes to your site recently. I see the “heart” is gone and some kind of counter and another symbol have been added.
Could you please explain the changes or point me to an explanation within the site.
Thank you
Dave

Q: Hi,

Total return, long term investor with a diversified portfolio. If you had new money to add to a portfolio, would you consider CCL.B and T decent prospects, especially on weakness in the last year or so (these are small holdings in my portfolio)?
Thanks, Michael

Q: I have .85 and .79 % holdings respectively in the above 2 companies. The dividend yields are paltry so I'm thinking of consolidating them . Which of the two do you see with better growth potential or could you recommend 3 or 4 others with better growth opportunities irrespective of sector allocation with a dividend and without a dividend. I already hold CSU, LMN, TOI, TFII, GLXY, HPS.A
Thank -you
Jeff

Q: Good Morning,

Our RESP for my 13-year-old daughter is currently valued at about $42k. It is comprised of 25% Google, 25% AMD, 25% DSG, 13% Apple, and 12% VMD. Wondering if you could please give me a few ideas for another stock or ETF (Canadian or American) that I might add to this mix, as I will be contributing another $6K soon. Thanks. Brad

Q: Could you please tell me what is the risk of buying this preferred today? I believe it resets in Sept 2027. Rates will likely be lower then, but what would the yield and price look like then relative to today's value and rate. I'm looking for USD income but with a dividend tax credit benefit. Any other suggestions (MG, NTR, QSR?) instead of this strategy? Thanks

Q: Hello 5i,
Just had a look at ATS balance sheet which your report on Sept 5th suggested had improved. Can you help me understand how the more than doubling of "goodwill and other intangibles" which in march of 2020 were $800+million, compared to march 2023 were $1.7 billion will impact the company going forward? How did "intangible" assets grow so much and does this typically inflate assets on the Balance Sheet? Total debt in that time frame has also doubled. With reporting due next week(?) is there anything else you can shed light on for we shareholders?
Does ATS usually meet or miss on numbers?
TIA,

Q: TEAM has a lot of people selling. I am still hanging on to it, but due to the amount of people selling, I think most people sell and buy a stock with more up side i.e. Alphabet, NVDA, MSFT, etc. which in the long run will probably be a better move than waiting for TEAM to bottom out and recover. What is your take on this? Thanks again.
